Fuel filler, or fuel lines in engine bay

One of the two. You'll find the pressure differential of having a window down will make it worse. If it's the fuel cap, buy some fuel neck filler putty from your local auto store and putty up the area where the new filler neck was brutally attached by your compliance workshop. This helped on mine. Also, pull the plenum and replace all fuel lines. I had fuel leaking out of one of my fuel hoses. I replaced my injectors and fuel lines and have not had a wiff of fuel vapors since, except very small trace amounts from the fuel filler - the putty is not the be all end all.

I had to replace the fuel filler neck twice. More recently

the gasket on the end of the screw on cap came ajar just a little and i thought I was getting a tight seal but wasn't. Instant strong petrol smell. When I realigned the gasket it seals perfectly and no more smell.

    Good luck matey

    Fuel Cap

Do you know if the filler cap is available straight from Nissan??? mine has NO rubber at all ... I think that is why it leaks like a seive and smells alot

BTW mine is an import 2 seater

    not fuel cap

i think its not the fuel cap problem its the 'fuel gas' actually leaking out .... when u reomve your fuel cap u can hear some 'shhh' gas sound but now the gas are gone and no sound when i remove the fuel cap

I have overlooked the base and pipes of the car and in the engine with a mechanic ... no signs of any leakage .. i was amazed

can anyone tell me what's going wrong?
what i know this petrol smell is very common in 300zx
