How to tell if auto or manual?

    Hey Guys,

    Looking at some VG30DETT motors - Whats the easiest way to tell if it was originally out of an Automatic or a Manual?

    I'm obviously searching for a Manual due to the cams & turbos that came on the manual but a lot of the sellers can't tell me what their motor was out of.

    Can you tell by the engine code?

    check if the crank has a brass bush in the center of it when you look at it from the back, thats manual, auto will not have that

    Brass Pilot Bush?

    Awesome - thats one thing to look for, Anything else?

    Autos may have the flex plate on the back still. Apart from that though who cares, real world I'd challenge you to feel the difference. And if anything the auto engine's probably had an easier life.
