How to get 11seconds?

Ok firstly I have searched and not found anything so don't flame me for not searching. If anyone has a link it would be appreciated. My suit of flame retardeness is however donned.

Anyways I have my stupid XR6T finally fixed and for sale so I will have a couple of k to spend on the Zed. As the title says I would like to make it run 11's if possible without spending too much. Just straight line speed is what I want. I don't care if it won't take a corner.

It has run a best of 13.5 at 110 but that is with 7 year old nankangs. My mods are

    -600r kit
    -hitech ecu and 14psi
    -under drive
    -2.5" zaust
    -trust side mounts
    -exedy clutch
-got some of those collars on the subframe too which work well
-a few deletes and some weight shaving. (might get rid of seats too. But they are in perfect cond)

Traction seems to be the biggest issue with knocking a half a second or so off. So tyres of much better quality for starters. What else should I get. I want to do this on a budget. Just to see if it can be done. Like Bennyc getting over 300kw for pretty much nothing. Will big injectors lots of boost and slicks get me in the ballpark? Trying to do it without opening the motor. I don't care if I lunch it either. I would simply rebuild a better one. Thanks for the taking the time to read

My only advice is to work slowly towards those 11's. By this I mean dont spend all your dosh on a heap of parts in one hit as you may waste money on things that you didnt really need.

As you already know tyres are going to be a huge improvement. If I was in your boat I get my self a set of MickeyThompsons and then go to the strip without any other mods. If your car has traction issues then these are going to get you closer to that 11.

I would do that alone before anything else.

    Anti 14.7 x 14.7 = 44.1

Does it have to be on street tyres? I think drag radials are the kicker here. This guy ran 11 seconds on intake, exhaust, 17 pounds of boost and a stall converter. With drag tyres.

If you have enough balls where you can only bog down or fry half the track on street tyres, will you need the radials. If you can still get a clean launch on street tyres, then you won't have enough power to even reach 12's anyway. :p

Get the MT's they will help with the lunch and do an NA diff swap or install 4.11's. I know my ET's lowered my time by 1/2sec.

If you are after a one time only rip snorting drag run then just fit the biggest NOS tank you can, Fill the tank with race gas and dissconnect the boost sloenoids and go for it

May as well disconnect the wastegate actuators while you're at it [TIS]

if your not worried about corners then ditch the manual for a built auto with manual shift and big stally. maybe build up a standard zed one or use a Jatco, T400 or Powerglide. they make a big difference for drags.

Go to SEARCH and look up member Wizard. He has broken into the 11's, at a great deal of expense and bloody hard work(not to mention some very competent driving).
You are in for some bitter disappointment, if you think it's cheap and relatively easy.:br:[TIS]:rofl:

It can be done CHILI with less money than ron spent, his is a track beast not a drag queen! First major difference is getting an auto trans. Have a look at the link I posted of Pmack's 11 sec run on relatively stock engined z as that was his goal.

You don't need much money to run 11's.
    ...Once :br:[TIS]

    Nos (200hp shot should do...)
    Strip all weight
    Drag radials
    Welded diff ('cause you can)
    Short exhausts off the dumps
Turn up the boost (or disconnect wastegates entirely)

Who cares about reliability, when you say that you car can run 11's

I have no doubts about it costing and not being easy

But I would like to do it with the minimum amount of spending needed. What I mean is buying the mods that are necessary, and not wasting money on things that are not. This is why I ask you guys. Not to be a pain in the butt. Not to annoy people, Simply because I value many of the members input on this forum. (Including you Chili) There are people that have done this before so I would be wise to listen.

I think with another 2 or 3k on the car I could do it. I have already spent many $ as most others on here have too. I hope I can get 11's, but if I can't the world will still go on and I will still drive it and love it. But by the same token I hope I can come on here someday soon and say hey guys, guess what!? I finally did it.

Now wouldn't that be a nice ending :)

you are really pushit shit up hill to get 11's on a mildly modded manual zed.

If you are serious then yoiu need a build auto with a big stall and 4.11 gears to begin with. If you arent going to change to an auto then you will need much more horsepower , good tyres and dozens of passes. Wizard is in the 11's, but how many other manual zeds are, UAS or course but is there anyone with a mildly modded manual doing it?

    Im Confused

are you or are you not running bigger injectors, my take on your orignal post was you were thinking of getting some?

I sold my leaders as they are worth the best part of a grand, then another 400 for a rebuild kit then you need someone to rebuild it, ie cheaper to get a NA subframe. You could crank the boost up also you mention your only running 17 psi, those turbos good for 20-22 (im guessing here someone will shoot me down if im wrong)

how efficient are smics with larger turbos running 20 plus psi?

Maybe a dual air intake, 3 inch exhaust, increase intercooler piping/throttle bodies diameter?

and if all else fails, pay the airforce to take it up in a C130 Hercules 10,000 feets and drop it out, im sure it will do more than 1/4 mile in 11 seconds.

Don't get me wrong mate, I'm not saying that you can't get there(nor am I saying that you need to build a car as refined as Wizards). I am simply suggesting that IF you want to have a car that is "street legal", and a daily driver, then you will need to spend big bucks wisely.
The things you have to do to get a very quick drag car from a Z32, are incompatible with a reliable, street-able, daily usage motor vehicle(the same can be said for a "Track Car", look at JP's Slotcar(I've been around Oran Park & Eastern Creek in that beast. A street car, it is not).:):br:
