braided hose? (not teflon coated hose)

I was at enzed the other day getting some hard lines made up for an excavator and one of the guys we know there is going to be doing all of the water/oil lines on my car. He showed me some teflon braided hose which is steel braid with a teflon tube inside of it with a wall diameter of about .5mm by the look of it. The stuff is good for 400 degrees C and suitable for both oil and water. He gave me a length of it for free and the stuff seems to be quite durable and flexible. Is anyone using this sort of hose in their engine? There is no rubber in it at all and the inside of the teflon stays extremely clean and never breaks down from what I was told.

I have been using it on my fuel lines(bought it from Earls Fittings at Silverwater). No problems so far, but it's bloody hard to push onto the steel pipework, as it doesn't like to stretch over the little bulge at the end of each pipe.

I have used it for all of my oil and fuel lines. It has very good life, heat tollerance and the bit I love the most will not react with enthanol or methanol. Unlike most ruber lines.
It does though have its drw backs one being that it is has very limited elatisity and if kinked it is is likely to reslut in a weak position for failure.
I think you need to look at why you need it, and in hindsight I would have just fitted the normal rubber lines. Except for the turbo oil feed lines which have to pass by the manifold on my set up.
Also noted that you can't use hose clamps on this stuff it is just too stiff, so its alloy fittings all round.

Thanks for the feedback, I am going to be using either all brass or cad plated steel compression fittings for all water lines etc, so it shouldn't be a problem :)

Same as above all my nitrous lines and fuel lines I made out of the teflon tubing braided hose. Is a little hard to get over the compression fittings but a little silicone spray a vice and some elbow grease worked wonders.

    Its good stuff.

I will be getting all of the fittings machine crimped like what they do on machinery, so that problem shouldn't exist :)
