factory rear spoiler can be removed and replaced with fibreglass copy, or deleted altogether. not sure what wing is or isnt on your car so possibly not a valid point, but still....... have you removed the under dash a/c components? a bit of weight reductions available there if still in place. remove foglights and replace with figreglass ducts/vents. deleting hicas? consider a permanent hicas line delete under the car. fibreglass replacement front fenders, bumpers etc might save a couple of kilos, and add a bit of "style" if thats your thing. ams pulley kit or similar, performance plus weight reduction reinforcment bars front and rear under bumpers can be trimmed or deleted, but wouldnt delete altogether personally.......drill holes in them with a 2inch or similar holesaw bit, will keep the shape, but lose a little weight just a few ideas for you there......hope some it helps
You know whats going to be real funny? When I turn up the boost just a little and rocket away from you sitting in my heavier then standard 2+0 TT (I'm planning to actually add a lot of weight mostly with sound deadening)... sorry man, I had to... Oh, and I'll have AC on for those SCORCHING days too. Question though, NA Front Bar? I take it you're going with an FMIC? MoulaZX
i got my 2 seater slick top down to 1275kg ready to race but it was very sparce and there were no creature comforts except for a surprisingly comfy Sparco race seat. im now putting back in the carpets and trim plus a simple 12v electric demister to make it all legal again but after i get rid of the hicas and a few more things it should still weigh around 1300kg on the road. but.... like i said before, it doesn't have creature comforts like aircon and stereo although i can live with that for what i intend to use it for.
some good ideas here http://www.twinturbo.net/net/viewmsg.aspx?forum=technical&msg_id=1071672 http://www.twinturbo.net/nissan/300zx/forums/technical/view/1065404/Weight-Reductions-101---Part-1-The-Basics.html http://www.twinturbo.net/nissan/300zx/forums/technical/view/1065496/Weight-Reductions---Part-2---Bypasses-and-Basics-contd.html
If you can mount the headlights in a fixed position, the metal mounts and combo headlights are pretty heavy, maybe close to 7 pounds for both.
pull the dash out, behind that you find another ac compnant which weights about 15kg or so, half the piping back there cna be removed while still keeping it legal, quiet a few extra brackets and crap which added togfether weigh a few kg, and arent essential to the car... rubber backing behind the dash can come out also...
Refer LOWFATZ thread. All the info you will ever need. No messing around with opinions on here.... I mean everyones heard Evan before right? bbaaahhhhh
Thanks for the info everyone. I'm still keeping this a regular street car! I'll definitely be getting myself some forgies at all four corners next time. Haven't rolled on my current rims yet though! Carbon hatches are only available in two seater unfortunately. The battery relocation is on my mind... No thankyou! OEM spoiler's long gone, but the under-dash AC components are still there. Foglights are already gone, ducts going in. HICAS is going. Bodywork is staying OEM at the moment, but might be keen on some vented fenders... I'm not at cheese holing things yet! Front reo has been trimmed for FMIC, otherwise I want to keep it strong. The pulleys wouldn't be a bad idea, but they're damned expensive... Well when I have the means to fit a fully forged/balance donk, I likely will... until then, refer to the first line of the op. Don't you remember me inviting you around when we were doing the FMIC? Thanks! Man do I want some carbon fiber doors.. I should add, I've got a light weight 1-piece driveshaft and light lug nuts.
start at stereo console, remove to small clips near air vents at top, 2 screws behind there, then remove radio cover strip, 2 more behind there. remove radio sorround and clock and unplug the clock. look at base of hole you have just created, 2 more screws in there remove ashtry unclip trim button on handbrake boot, underneath open centre console box, remove rubbish, remove carpet trim on bottom, undo screws i think thats all of them, may be another couple holding console in but youll be able to see them easily from here. remove, unplug cigerette lighter and ashtry light plug. good to go
Thanks again! I've got some new interior boots on order, I'll rip the black box out when I install them.
Rekon I have about 20kgs of zircon and heater boxes and pipe work from under the dash, then the compressor ontology of that
I've done all of the above. I wondered for years what that stupid little box was. Very easy to remove. I'll swing by if you need a hand. MoulaZX
