    Hello,

I'm getting my rails modified and need to remove the injectors first.
I've been to a few places with different answers but none will say they can get them out without the possibility of damaging them.

Does anyone have any tips or tricks or special tools or anything at all?
Surely plenty of people have done this without too much hassel.

    Thanks
    Ben

You take the pelnum's off. remove the injector caps. pull injectors out. Be gentle, use new o-rings. I dont think its to difficult

    Your replacing

the old injectors with 555s are you Ben? If you have a vise open it enough to fit the injector between the jaws, pintle up, and give it a few taps with a rubber mallot it will drop out, the pintle will be destroyed, but the injector itself will be fine.

Plenum is off and rails are on the bench. It's just getting the injectors out that is proving difficult, but I just got a call from Zedophile with how to do it. Thanks Clive! :)

They are already 555's, so I don't want to damage them if I can avoid it.
I'm gonna try the PVC pipe and socket method but will have to make a trip to bunnings first.

    Fingers crossed ;)

I put the rail in the vice with the injector connector pointing down. Then I have a steel tube that fits over/around the pintle and a rubber hammer. They come straight out.

soak with wd40 or crc for a few hours, then wiggles them out with vice gribs or pliers !

    All out now thanks guys,

I was going to use the socket/vice/pvc pipe method, but I couldn't find a socket the correct size, plus my vice is broken in two, plus I didn't have any pvc pipe lol.

So I just hit them with WD and used my multigrips.
First one I barely grabbed it and it popped out. I thougnt you little beauty this is going to be a peice of piss. And then of course every one after that was a total pain in the ass hahaha. Anyway, after some grunting and groaning they are all out. I put them in some little baggies, but I remember reading about people adding fuel or contact cleaner or something so they don't dry out or gum up or something?

They will hopefully only be out for a couple of weeks max will they be ok as is? Considering getting them serviced too. No telling how long they have been in there. What's a general clean/service cost?
If anyone can recommend someone around Wollongong that would be great.

Thanks again for all the suggestions.

    Injector service

Parrafin oil) I had my stock injectors serviced by Asnew injector Services here in Vic, and they used parrafin oil.

They will hopefully only be out for a couple of weeks max will they be ok as is? Yes

About $180 couple off years ago

    Hey ben...

So what are you planning on doing with your old 555cc injectors? Sell them?

hehe, nahh they are going back in mate, never hurts to ask though does it? :)

    Hey....maybe I should consider upgrading??
    lol

Worth a look see around anyway.
Just for shits and giggles, what would people recommend to fit in the stock 89 rails and lower plenum?
I understand that there's not alot around that will fit that dosen't require machining etc.

    Ben

PS just did a little looking around, looks like sard 800's just need collars. No point only going to 650's I would think.
Any suggestions on best place for sards and collars?
