if you don't have a Conzult or Datascan?

My car tries to start in gear without the clutch engaged, which I believe it isn't supposed to do?

    Thanks.

If you pull the passengers floor mat and the timber floor board, then pull the ECU from the floor you can measure the voltage accross the pins of the ECU as you change into gear. I'm not sure about a clutch switch as I do not have Hicas but it should be the same just look for the ECU connector pin diagram in the service manual. Use a digital multimeter as they have high impedance and will not damage the ECU.

This realy is quite simple and not to time consuming. I'm sure it will take you longer to do the reaserch than to do the test.

I tested continuity between the the neutral switch and clutch switch...

and put into neutral/pushed the clutch and they all work.

Why does it still try to start turn over when in gear?

    I believe the neutral switch....

does not stop the car from starting if it is in gear. Thats not its purpose. What it does do, is tell the ECU when the car is in gear so it can adjust the fuel and timing maps accordingly.

    Cheers
