Compared to 1 that hasn't got it, Just got offered 1 at a price i can't refuse, i know the ptu is differently positioned in later models and the coil connectors are different also, what should i be looking for just want to make sure he is not pulling my leg.

Theres two, the "EGR" is inbetween them in the picture. They are the black thing with the white wiring loom comming out of them. About 3cm horizontal of the egr left and right according to my computer screen.

    variable valve timing

You are talking about the senses on the end of the camshaft left and right of the egr, are a indication of variable valve timing?

you wanted to identify a vg30 with vct right?

well those two objects in the picture are variable cam timming solenoids. The older engines won't have them.

It is a 98 model jap import engine

I thought only the later model vg30 have VVT, i have a early model engine that has the valve timing senses things, so are the later model engines any better then the earlier model engine, is it worth getting my hands on it?
