How can my zed be worth so little?

I'm looking to sell my Zed, see for sale section,
but I want to trade it in for a moto, called a few places about a trade in, money my way (5 places to be precise) and the best offer I got was 3500, I never expected to make money with this car, but its in perfect working order, mechanically brilliant, interior perfect. NA auto, which I guess is a downfall.

Is this the common price now?
I need it done, but this is just ridiculous.

almost every dealer said "its an import, and too hard"

any thoughts on how to offload the car? I love it so much, but the debt is eating away at my life, im sure some of you know the feeling

You're always going to get less for a trade in than you would if you sold it privately, same thing happened when my dad tried to trade in his old Mazda, some places offered him 2.5k but he shopped around the big dealers and ended up getting a 7k trade in. So shop around.

Your mistake is attempting to trade it in. You'll never see a good deal doing it that way. Sell it privately through the forum or carsales.com.au with RWC and a bit of rego and you'll likely see the better part of 6-7k. Car dealerships never give you good value for a trade in, it's how they make their money.

some young gun p plater will want it I hope.

Sadly Boo, they all say that, and as soon as you walk out of the yard with the $3500 cash they slap and $8000 price tag on it. Even when they give you 3500 trade and you've handed over 5000 on the vehicle you want they'll still slap a 8 g tag on it. Keep trying to sell it either on here or ebay or even try gumtree or carsales.com.au.

I've still got 41 looking at mine on ebay, and yes i'm still getting lame arsed offers of 2-2.5g . And for everyone of those i copy & paste the url's of the really crappy ones to them and say this is more your style.

Are you just talking about dealers here? Or private sale market too. That's how dealers make their money, they pay you less for an on the spot sale with a 'guarantee' that you're getting a good vehicle as part trade or whatever.

Geez, that pearl paint is in nice nick, I'd suggest getting as many shots as you can. The condition of the car will be a real selling point there.

Wouldn't expect an insanely fast sale on the car though, I was keeping an eye on the average wait time while i was hunting for a good price on a TT, take a month or two to move it along I'd expect, summers warming up... slowly works wonders for sales on a targa top down this end of the country.

just sell it privately. the amount of P platers these days seeking a NA import has driven up prices.

NA auto skyrines are fetching a lot more than they're worth and a zed being a bitch to maintain tends to scare some away but you'll get more than $3.5k for it.

if it has few or no mods it actually works in your favour. you can claim it's unmolested especially to dealers who are weary of imports.

Thanks guys, ill just stick at it, and thanks Slithz, I had a pro detail job, it was unbelievable, I caught the bus for a few days because I didn't want to get it dirty.

ill get some more pics, I think I got the right angles and what not, but maybe some nice close ups will help.
Its already on carsales, and I took it off Ebay because I got sick of "how fast can it go" "does it skid well" "will you take 2000 and my rusted commodore" and my personal favourite "Can you sell me your brakes" no mate, I'm trying to sell a whole car here.

Guys I don't know what else to say except when I sold my NA I made $2k profit and get offers of around $12 for my TT while its at the shop and it isn't for sale. I do think it needs to be on Carsales mine was and sold in a few weeks, auto NA. Secondly you do need close ups as well as, vacuumed, clay bared & polished. Again carsales is the only way to go imo, just ignore any stupid messages and honestly I don't think listing mods is a good idea, you don't need to scare off potential new buys who might not know anything about these cars. Let them see it for themselves first. They don't want to see in the ad.

    Temperature warning device.
    Boost controller.
    Shift kitted. :(
HICAS disabled with lockout bar. :(

I haven't seen the car in question at all but without some of the above it wont stand much chance.

    That is a great looking Z :D

I'd be after 10 thousand for it. I'm guessing that's a suburb in Brisbane? maybe listing it as Brisbane would help if you can. Some pictures on nice flat ground too, the Z is a low slung car and it helps show the lines. Other than that cool ride man.

My first impression is it's had a front end smash at some point, inside is rough and you didn't even vacuum the boot before taking pictures. The sub setup looks horrendous.

I would chuck the sterio, get a single din stereo and a new surround, give the interior a proper clean and maybe some new rear trims. Those ones look pretty nasty.

    Anti 14.7 x 14.7 = 44.1

That colour could make a 458 look like it was built in the 1940's. Sorry. Maybe getting some pictures in the sun?

    Top detailing job though!
