Help. My zed turns over no problem when its cold but not when its hot.All I get is dash lights. Battery is new. It clutch starts ok so I am suspecting the starter motor. Any ideas would be helpful. Thanks....

So you get no cranking at all?

    Could be the start relay.

Not sure how the temperature would affect the relay.

I've seen it before in other cars, screwed with a fuel pump relay on one of the ex's cars.

Ok I give up. Pulled the wheel arches apart on both my zeds and no sign of a blue relay. Are the imports in a different place to the one in the tech section.?

Blue starter relay is only fitted to the auto`s as a rule as it forms parts of the inhibitor circuit to prevent the engine start when in drive, however have seen a couple of examples where the relay is fitted on manuals for some unknown reason, but guess yours is one without.

Also check the fuseable links and most connections in the start circuit. Heat could be causing a connection to come apart in the cranking circuit that doesn't effect the car while running or cold

You are looking in the wrong wheel arch, check the other side. Also, both auto and manual cars have a starter relay. I doubt this is the problem as it will not be affected by heat in that location, my money is on the starter.
