    Hey all

Just noticed in the last week that while driving and boosting, my car produces a fairly noticable hot oil/exhaust smell in the cabin.

This only occurs when i have the drivers window down.

Oil pressure is fine, not losing much/any.

I do have atmospheric BOVS however there is no oil residue being spat out of them.

Under normal driving (off boost) i smell nothing, and the car drives fine.

Any clues as to what may be causing it?

I thought that it might be oil hitting the turbo under boost and smoke, or exhaust somehow... The car is going in on the 20th to get the injectors cleaned - perhaps this is related, but no fuel/oil smell under normal loads.

    Cheers in advance.

Hey andy, how much boost are you running and what sort of condition are your turbos in? Are you getting any smoke out the exhaust when you plant it?

    AndyMac Better than you

Exhaust leak. Either from around your manifolds or EGR

    schtein is right though.
I've just recently had a bit of oily smell in the cabin and then the car started blowing a bit of white smoke. Suspect turbos, but can't replicate the symptoms...

    Hey guys

I am running 12psi, stock turbos (not sure about condition).

I do blow smoke from the left bank (due to the fouled injector I suspect).

When i get the injectors cleaned I'll ask the mechanic to suss out the cause of the smell too.

I have pulled the stock wing off, and just taped up the holes. The tape was coming off, so i took it off completely and went to find some grommets. Could the exhaust possibly be being sucked in through the holes in the boot lid and entering the cabin?

This could explain why it smells of oil/fuel 2-3 seconds after boosting...

Have taped the holes, boosted once and didnt smell a thing, even with the window opened... :p

    Will double check turbos/manifolds/egr's.

I'd say the smell would be coming from your exhaust near the manifolds as andymac said. Probably coming into the cabin through the gearbox hole or air vents. Have you had any exhaust work done lately or had the exhaust off? Could be as simple as retightening or installing new gaskets!

It's my guess that you are getting the smell after boosting is this is when oil pressure is highest and comes through the seals?
