This morning I was woken by the horn in my z32 300zx. The alarm was not triggered and as such did not stop the horn so I had to pop the hood and yank the relay to silence it. Does anyone know what the problem could possibly be? I'm gona get stuck into it tomorrow so an suggestions or advice of what to check would be awesome

First thing to check would be the horn button and wiring in the steering wheel boss.

    Horn pad.

Ours does this as the cab temperature heats up.

Was weird as fk and scared us the first few times it happened as it was just outside our lounge room window. Had to tap the horn pad to stop it. Even peel the top edge back.

I think what's happened is the heats distorted the plastic pad over the years and it's allowing the contacts to just touch. Only just.

I've not actually inspected what I can do to "fix" the problem. But so far I just keep the heat reduced with covers and inside living the carport. Or battery disconnected when not in use.
