    Hey guys.

Might be a stupid question. but Just wondering if a hood insulator is necessary for a stock bonnet.
obvious the clips have seen better days with my frustration of removing them.
so they will need to be replaced.
Going into paint soon, Put back on or leave it off?

    Cheers

I think leave it on...it was there for a reason...mine has seen better days and im thinking of getting a new one on...its personal choice...its not hurting nobody by being there lol

its purpose is to block out sound.. if you dont care about that and what to hear you engine more, remove it.

i had a set, gave them away. Hopefully yours are a better fit than mine....
Landcruiser guards would have been a better fit

    misszen Red ones go faster!

It prevents high temperatures from building up and wrecking/bubbling the paint as well.

    Leave it on is best

I removed mine years ago... No issues what so ever... Apart from it now being another area I have to clean from time to time :)

It was put there for a reason by nissan engineers

I guess it depends on how hot it gets - lol

It was put there for a reason, better protection if the engine bay should catch fire, (the fire is easier to contain and provides valuable time before you suffer major damage which gives you more time to respond if it should occur)

Nissan put it there to insulate against Heat/Sound and even vibration for a reason. I have kept mine. Nissan engineers didnt pay money for a do nothing part.

Each to their own I guess, he just asked for opinions, for and against and I don't generally advise others normally against the reccommended nissan engineering way as a rule, regardless of subject.

    Regards

I bought one through my local dealer for a little over $100 - why not buy yourself an early Xmas present!

I thought it was was well established by now that they obviously did fit a few do nothing parts that aren't necessary. Things like aiv's, sound insulators on the intake pipes, 3rd bleed nipple on the clutch hard line, cat over temp sensors etc. etc.

As for the sound insulation, rip it off if it's looking tatty. Plenty of people have and had no paint issues. What about all the show cars overseas that fit mirrors under their bonnets instead, never heard of anybody have any issues like that.

I was looking at the collection photo and thought you were selling.
I'll check the local bloke but their prices seem to be double the norm.
    Thanks

The aivs do serve a purpose, just not one that anyone cares about :p.

I'd rather have a fire retardant liner on my bonnet then not have one.

so your metal bonnet doesnt catch on fire?

if your engine is on fire a bit of insulation isnt going to do shit... hate to break it to ya
