High idle

hay my 93 tt is idling high but not all the time. normally on start up it will go to 1500 and slowly come down to about 700. but lately its been staying at 1500. but other times it will start up and not sound so good like its not gettin enough fuel for one second and then its fine and it will stay at 700 but during warm up it will go up to 1500 stay for several seconds then drop down to 700 again with no real pattern but other times itll stay at 1500. and while its idling high and ive got the accelerator to the floor wen i go 2 change gear at 3000 the needle will jump to 3300 and then fall slowly. any thoughts?

 

i would be checking your temp sender going to your ecu same thing happened to my brother once changed no issues.

could also be boost leaks or a failing TPS, also high idle at start up is normal.

 

pauly do u mean the temp sender at the front of the engine or is there another 1?

 

yeh the one with the with the injector plug on it.

 

being the temp sender did ur brother have trouble with his temp gauge b4 the swap out?

throttle positon sensor. Its to the right of the passenger side throttle body if i remember correctly.
