My nic is the same there as it is here.
I'm not sure of the exact model of the Bosch projector. I thought they only sold one model on HIDplanet. I ordered the RHD model obviously.

And to answer the question in your other post, yes my headlights are J-spec

Would you be interested in putting together a kit with the custom stuff taken care of?

On a scale of 1-10, with this conversion being 10 and the stock lights being 1, where would you slot the HID conversion kits as sold by bankids etc in the group buy?

I just went for a rid in a mate's Accord Euro.. the lights blew me away.. Better than my high beams haha.. Those cars seem to be very solid as a total package, quality wise.. Difference really shows when compared to a 16 year old car, especially in the interior..

I would rate Bankids Hid kit an 8 as compared to stock.

Hah, the wife drives a Euro and whenever she gets into one of my cars at night she asks if I forgot to turn the lights on.

I think the only accurate way to grade them would be to compare the three (stock, kit, retro) side by side and view them first hand. Photos can sometimes offer a accurate representation but they can also be misleading due to the different camera setting, ambient light and the colour of the ground or wall being illuminated.

Since I haven't seen the kits you refer to in real life I can't really comment or compare, but the people who have purchased and installed them seem very happy.

The only real custom stuff are the aluminium brackets, four in total. I don't think there would be a big enough demand to have them fabricate, and it's a time consuming job making them by hand.

    1 to 10 Perspectives

I will never profess to be an HID expert. I have been dabling around HID conversion possibilities for many years now in the www.mx-3.com world. A moderator there who is also a good friend of mine has been sharing a lot of good gen and info as far as what works and what doesn't, costs of various HID projectors, which oem car HID projectors are good for certain applications, which projectors will fit where and the after the fact modding of HID projectors wrt their shields, cut-off re-designs, lenes substitions etc. This friend is also a moderator on HID Planet as well "Eunos TT". He's been able to steer me in the right direction without being confused or mislead by these fly by night "HID Kits". For the most part that's what they are. But that's a whole other topic/story.
Before I forget..... Z-ster, thanks for the reply about which projector. The reason I aked is that in HID Planet and as well (I posted a subscript of it) here, there's at least 3 I know of. We're talking about the Bosch E46 HID projector which cam in a DOT and an ECE config (ie: DOT E46 and ECE E46), both of which may be for a LHD. The ECE I believe could come in a RHD config - a simple matter of shield config. There is also an E46 BiXenon HID projector that my friend is in the process of modding into my spare MX3 lights along with a halogen projector. This will give me the extra set of lights for the High beam - but again another story.
    As far as the post title is concerned, in my mind I would characterise the placement something like this;
10 being the no holds bared, best modded HID projector money can buy with top drawer ballasts and globes.
1 being the normal Halogen Z projector with oem globes.

    1 - oem Halogen projector w/oem globe

2 - oem Halogen projector w/ an Osram/Philips/Silverstar(1st or second gen) halogen globe

3 - oem halogen Projector w/ aftermarket HID Kit (4200k)

4 - oem Halogen Projector w/ top drawer HID kit (4200k)

8/9 - HID Projector retro-fit Bosch e46 with Hella Ballasts and Philips D2S globe

10 - no holds bared, best modded HID projector money can buy with top drawer ballasts and globes

Again, that's just my take on it and of course will vary from other's perspectives.
