Hey, had a bit of a look and i can't find it, so i'll ask probably a silly question,

What is HICAS? the light is almost constantly on, so i was just asking whats it do, is it needed? whats involved with getting rid of it etc...

    Cheers

Silly answer - get rid of it!

:p by topping up your power steer fluid :D

P/S fluid levels, and with aftermarket sterring wheels: HICAS sensor component of the boss is not inline with the bottom of the wheel.

And, as bigbaz once suggested: "Just remove the bulb and replace it with a disco ball"

    Those

HICAS solenoid failure, fail safe solenoid failure, faulty speedo cluster, faulty HICAS computer.

    Can be so many things.

HICAS is the 4 wheel steering system FWIW

    5K1TZX Its all never ending....

    Another thing....

If everything mentioned previously in this thread is ok. Your hicas could be locked off at the rear? either with a locking bar or with locking nuts. Mine light didnt come on at all until I installed the locking bar.

HICAS is on all Twin Turbo Z32's. It is clever technology, especially considering most of our cars are nudging 20 years old. Quite a few guys disable or remove it, it can be a bit unsettling when pushing it....at the track.

Ive found that mine now has a very small leak somewhere, which i cant locate. I know it happened while I was putting the engine back in... probably should have moved the lines out of the way more.

Just been topping it up occasionally, and spraying the drive way with degreaser :p

Would love to remove it - no idea how... should search for a tech article one day.

And yes, i have found HICAS a touch annoying.... goes from full, to nothing, to full.... Makes for an interesting time, and can be downright dangerous at times. First time it happened to me, i wasnt expecting it and almost pooped myself.
