My HICAS light sometime it will light on when driving until I restart the engine. ( sometime even it will still on when I restart the engine) I check up the connectors and it seem no problem at all. At the time HICAS light on, It still have power steering, not heavy at all and Everything seem normal... I went into HICAS diagnostic mode and it come up fault code 13, 21, 22, 23, 31 Any idea of my Zed Super Problem? My one is 1993 MT Turbo with Super HICAS system.
HICAS Fault Codes You didn't mention what year/month your Z is! Here are the codes for a 1993/1994 Z with the electric HICAS. 13 - HICAS motor output not present. 21 - Vehicle speed signal is not present. 22 & 23 - Steering angle sensor input is not present. 31 - Parking brake input is not present
My Zed is 1993 Sept. with the Electric Super HICAS system... It is very strange because all sensors signal to HICAS fail at the same time... That's why I think it is not really a sensor problem.
This is only speculation, but it is possible that when you rectify the input problems the 13 motor output code will probably be rectified.
I find the controller at the boot, left hand side... totally different from my first Zed... but the controller seem OK with it...
update: I cannot find any controller at the passenger footwell other then ECU. but lucky I find this at my boot, located at boot, passenger side. and did some google, that is HICAS/Power steering control unit!! The parts number is [28505 50p00] Once I disconnect it, ECU working everything fine, with rev, speed signal as well. Only thing is ... I have heavy steering but it still got some power assist. ( at least I still could do steering when the car stopped at my parking space ) and it got no HICAS light on any more. This plug seem totally different then the common "two plugs" version of HICAS unit. when I disassembly it, I find some white mark on the IC... and I think it might be the problem.... ( that is very big IC... ) BUT!! sadly I cant find any 28505 50p00 on ebay... should I just replace the IC or... just find some way to totally disable HICAS system on my Zed? One more thing... The very strange thing happened today. My Zed engine suddenly turn off by itself, and I am not able to fire it up again... I check it up with my tablet via Consult plug, It cannot connect to ECU AT ALL!! can't even find it. Until I unplug the battery and make it reset. It could start again and everything back to normal again. ( code 55, no error) and at least I could go back home. will HICAS affect our ECU like this?
