moment so I haven't seen any of the problems, I have just been told by a family member so please bare with me. As you may have heard Newcstle (where I live) coped a battering yesterday with a bad storm, my Zed is at my parents house where it flooded. I don't know if any water has got into the motor or not, it started this morning but some oil came out of the exhaust and a bit of smoke. My sister took it for a drive around the block after it seem to be idling ok. Prob now is some orange light on the dash came on and then a red one which she said it said check something? It seemed to run ok but she said it is blowing smoke. I am really worried, would it start at all if the motor has flooded with water? Any ideas, has this happened to anyone before? Maybe just a bit of water got in somewhere? :( :(

    if the water

was high enough to get inside the exhaust pipes, what your sister may have mistaken for smoke could be steam from the exhaust as the water heats up. I dought there is any water getting into the fuel, because your car would not have started and ran for very long.

Water won't get into your engine...

unless it is running and sucking it in. If the water came up high enough, it could be possible that you ECU got wet (located in passenger foot well). But it's hard to know the error without seeing the symbol on your dash, or knowing where it is located on the dash.

Your engine is running, which is definitely a good sign! It's unlikely a significant amount of water was ingested by the engine, as it wouldn't have been running at the time of the flooding, so my bet is that the "smoke" is just residual amounts of water that was left in your intake or exhaust being evaporated by the engine. As for the blinking lights, odds are there's a fair amount of water that is sitting inside a number of your engine bay electrical connections, so I'd take the time to go through each of them with some WD-40 before they have a chance to corrode and/or damage any systems.

Your car should be fine after it's hung up to dry for a while. Good luck.
