Well most of you that came to Armidale saw my smoke screen on deceleration after boosting. Turbo seals are cactus (Eric put new valve seals on my heads).

I know several people on here have Hi-flowed their turbos putting larger cores in etc.

I'm interested to see the boost response, lag etc and power output. Could you please give me an indication of what cores are in your stock turbos along with your dyno sheet... Not sure if I can afford 2560's, dumps, injectors etc etc etc...

Hit up Benny_C. He just got his hi-flowed by HyperGear and made some pretty impressive power. Has a bloody nice kick to it when he opens the taps.

    Hey Kelleh,

This is with hi-flowed. T28 cores in standard housing with standard dumps, 2.5" exhaust from the dumps back, standard injectors and a dodgy manual bleed valve, so the boost drops away as you can see.

    Cheers

    Turbos

those are some very nice numbers Benny and Chilli. May i ask if this is on a stock engine? Or have you rebuilt it? If you can squeeze these numbers out of high flowed turbos what is really the point in going for new turbos and adding the expense of new dumps with different bolt patterns. Can anyone enlighten me? What did you guys pay or what would be a good guide to get this done Roll in roll out.

    Keep on topic please :bash:

Yeh, thanks for your input guys, there are some nice numbers there... What I am concerned with is that it seems the hi - flows are reaching 16PSI @ around 4500RPM! What rpm do stock engines make 16 PSI at?

Obviously now I'm an old man and drive an old man's car (auto) I'd like the spool as early as possible.

Does anyone have any stock graphs to compare? The dyno list section is down...

How do 2560's compare in spool characteristics against high flows?

Mine cost $2272 to be reconditioned and hi-flowed in Perth. Not sure who did them but Sik Em Wrex Racing (Tim Gunn) is the mechanic who arranged it. Sorry I don't have a dyno sheet to show you but my butt dyno says it's way faster :D

why would you bother spending that much when you can upgrade for the same price?

    about the same Rich,

don't forget there are many other factors that come into play when it comes to minimising lag. - not just the turbo.

High flow manifolds are a must!
top quality dumps and a free flowing exhaust is a must!

These two can dramatically effect lag if not well set up.

Put it this way, my high flowed turbos (with my supported mods) reach 16psi @ just after 4000rpm, and 20psi by 4400rpm :D
(and that's also with my dodgy $150 Npower ebay dumps too!)

I initially paid about $1800 for the hi-flow, but I got seriously screwed by Garrett's, with bad workmanship and other associated woes(long story documented elsewhere on this forum)so not a good example of average costing.
Long story, short....DON'T GO TO GARRETT @ CHIPPING NORTON!:bash:
