I was just wondering whether it would be possible to make a "Quote" feature when replying to posts? I've seen this on many forums and its a useful little feature. It could look something like this at the bottom of each post: [image]http://home.iprimus.com.au/borisp84/quote.jpg[/image] And do this: Quote:
Originally posted by tw|stedZ: I was just wondering whether it would be possible to make a "Quote" feature when replying to posts? Personally...>> I think it makes posts overly long. It is also pretty easy to just cut and paste any pieces from the original if they are really wanted. I'm sure that I will be out voted on this and the majority of members will want this little add-on.
im for it, if its extra work for the admins Just kidding! We dont need that here, twizted i bet the forums you go to that use that, you can only reply to the thread putting your reply at the bottom, you cant reply to a single post half way down the thread like you can here.
Tend to agree with Wykked >>> If I am quoting from another post or somewhere else (like the Lambo open day post) I just cut & paste, stick it in inverted commas and convert to italics.
wrong quickie Quote:
Originally posted by quick1: We dont need that here, twizted i bet the forums you go to that use that, you can only reply to the thread putting your reply at the bottom, you cant reply to a single post half way down the thread like you can here.
you can reply half way down the thread......the reason posts come out at the bottom on those forums is because all those forums use "List View" (which is an option here) while here we use "Threaded View". If you used List View here then they "quote reply" would be at the bottom but if you use Threaded view then replies would be as usual.....meaning whoever you quote you will still be "under" them...
it was only a suggestion... to make life a little bit easier. you must keep in mind though, that some people don't know how to "convert it to italics" well if people dont like thats ok
that's a good point... about making posts overly long..:| we'll wait and see what Ben says about this one
Live chat room in here? i cant remember the last time i saw someone in mirc. Think its mainly because no one wants to download the program and run it all the time. I could imagine people actually using the chat room if availible on the actual website and not seperate program. Would benefit having one but i think its pretty hard to incoporate something like this with the website. Just some ideas seeing as you guys were on the topicCheers
that would be cool people could organise times, like on a wednesday night or something, to chat live with people instead of using the forum system which isn't as immediate as chat. Also, you can chat about stuff that you didn't want to put on the forums for some reason or another
What I say? It's not up to me... if there's demand for it then we'll try and make it go ahead, if there's not much then no. Also, since Simon's the one coding it, it's up to him if he's got the time to spare or not.Ben
