Found this on another forum and think it makes sense. Hopefully some of you will also think this is worth giving a go.

"Apparently we are going to hit close to $1.35 a litre by the winter. If this happens the prices will flow on down to the price of every thing we buy! Want petrol prices to come down? We need to take some intelligent, united action. Philip Hollsworth, offered this good idea.

This makes MUCH MORE SENSE than the "don't buy petrol on a certain "day" campaign that was going around last April or May! The oil companies just laughed at that because they knew we wouldn't continue to "hurt ourselves" by refusing to buy petrol. It was more of an inconvenience to us than it was a problem for them. BUT, whoever thought of this idea, has come up with a plan that can really work.

Now that the oil companies and the OPEC nations have conditioned us to think that the cost of a litre is CHEAP at .89 / .95 cents, we need to take aggressive action to teach them that BUYERS control the marketplace not sellers. With the price of petrol going up more each day, we consumers need to take action. The only way we are going to see the price of petrol come down is if we hit someone in the pocket by not purchasing their Petrol!
And we can do that WITHOUT hurting ourselves.

    Here's the idea:
For the rest of this year, DON'T purchase ANY petrol from the two biggest oil companies (which now are: BP and Mobil). If they are not selling any petrol, they will be inclined to reduce their prices. If they reduce their prices, the other companies will have to follow suit. But to have an impact, we need to reach literally millions of BP petrol buyers. It's really simple to do!!

Now, don't wimp out on me at this point...keep reading and I'll explain how simple it is to reach millions of people!! I am sending this note to a lot of people. If each of you send it to at least ten more (30 x 10 = 300) ...and those 300 send it to at least ten more (300 x 10 = 3,000)... and so on, by the time the message reaches the sixth generation of people, we will have reached over THREE MILLION consumers!

Again, all you have to do is send this to 10 people. That's all. (and not buy at BP and Mobil) How long would all that take? If each of us sends this email out to ten more people within one day of receipt, all 300 MILLION people could conceivably be contacted within the next 8 days!!! I'll bet you didn't think you and I had that much potential, did you! Acting together we can make a difference. If this makes sense to you, please pass this message on.
PLEASE HOLD OUT UNTIL THEY LOWER THEIR PRICES TO THE 80 cents a LITRE RANGE.

It's easy to make this happen. Just forward this email, and buy your petrol at Shell, Caltex, GAS. or Gull Outlets and drive past BP and MOBIL Stations."

I think thats a good idea...i never actually go to BP or MOBIL...cause i think they are too expensive...I always go to Safeway Petrol Plus and Coles Shell stations....spend $30 on your groceries and get a 4c discount voucher from these places!!! It's the best way to go i believe!!!

    Now if only...

that could come into fruitation before we run out of oil completely!

If all else fails, at least I can put regular unleaded in mine :). Interesting idea for a boycott, although I'm sure I've seen it before.

Saw that inventors program on ABC

last night and some smart chap has come up with a gas injector proper to replace the petrol injector. Now the only thing to change is the tank and injectors. Uses the vehicles current computer and existing fuel rail. No more gas mix carbies and crap like that. Looking at $2700 per conversion (always gonna cost more on a zed tho). Pretty good IMHO.

How will it hurt the oil company

The ones who charge the US $50odd per barrel? The same amount of petrol is being consumed as people will just go to another place to fill up.

There is only so low they could drop their prices before making a massive loss (which some places do to compete already).

BP Ultimate seems to be generally accepted as a better fuel than Optimax as cleaner and giving less detonation. Maybe we should give Shell the flick instead of BP :)

But the only true way to really do some damage to em is to not buy from any petrol station. Cant be controlled or done however. By the way, that email is quite old. I got it some time ago.

When the GST came in it was meant to abolish the other taxes, so the goverment called the thing it wanted to stay as levys or in case of fuel, excise. Its still a tax, and its around 50% of the fuel price. Not to mention the GST on top of that as well. :(

yep i was going to make mention of this.

is this dude the first to make gas injectors? was thinking about the possibilities for the Z. $2500 is a fair bit for a few injectors, but if it works like he says. thing i don't understand is why haven't any big manufacturers done this before. do factory lpg cars use lpg injectors?

would be great from a performance point of view given higher octane rating of LPG. wonder what size injectors they do.

    google reveals a few things...

Thats the one - GTi Stealth Injection

Thanks for the links mate. They had their rep last night. I think the reason that people are still keeping with the older gas mixer carbies is for the dual fuel systems. The fuel economy isnt too good on gas so your stuffed for country driving (hence the dual fuel requirement on most makes.)I am not too sure what the cost of a conventional LPG conversion is. Was an interesting show though. Funny - one of the links actually quotes the conversion as the only one that gives you increased performance at reduced costs,;normally the other way around.
