The Zed stopped last night. Didn't seem like fuel. Engine stopped like it was turned off. After cooling a bit, it started and I drove another 200m then it just stopped again. The tech section identifies that the PTU may well be the culprit. If it was the CAS I doubt it would restart. Could also be the airflow meter.
Does anyone living on the Sunshine Coast Qld have a PTU I could try so I can pinpoint the prob.

i would run datascan on it, could be a number of problems, start with that then decide if you need a new ptu

Classic example of PTU failure. Stick a paperclip in your diagnostic port and see what comes out (check the tech section under error codes or ecu diagnostic, cant remember exactly)

99% sure it's PTU, won't be AFM you wouldn't ba able to rev over 2500 if it was stuffed.

Could be very dodgy corroded connection on CAS, but I doubt it, clean it while you are mucking around and it wont cause you any trouble for ages.

I'm coming up past the Sunshine coast tomorrow

Allbeit in Tammy's skyline. I have a spare PTU (Series 1), and it is in working condition. I can also run a diagnostic c/o the laptop and conzult cable.

If your interested, PM me sometime today with your address.

    PTU dead

Seems you should be OK with Pexzed coming to the rescue. But, for interest sake, there has been a spate of this exact condition/occurence over the past few months - including mine! All the tech boys suggested the same things - PTU, CAS, etc. I initially replaced both, but still no joy. A workshop visit turned real sour!! Mine turned out to be connecters; good clean-up, game over. Thank God for the forum, 'cause supposedly 'knowledgeable' workshops just put a hand over their faces and laugh when they see us come in with this juicy (but easy) fix-it. One I struck tried it on for $2644 (claimed 30-hrs' labour!)....Bigbaz did a consult at a Tech Day and...all's good!!!

    PTU disected

    Many thanks guys

Chris (my son) disected the PTU as explained in the tech section and found that the two small wires had broken inside.
They were is such bad shape that he had to substitute with high grade aircraft electrical wire. We appreciate everyone's suggestions and helpful comments. I will PM Pexzed re his kind offer on a public holiday.

    Cheers Neil
