    Hi gang,

As some of you know I have an auto hoist... I am looking for some help to stand up the two uprights. As the lift is a 4T capacity centre lift they each weight around 250KG X 3.6M high with most of the weight at the bottom. (yes its one of the larger ones) They are too much for me to install on my own.
I was going to use a fork lift but that fell through, KZed talked of a plan which sounded good. Basically you just need a bunch of tension horizontally to stand it up and plenty of stabilizing tension to stop the posts from overcentering....

I was thinking of trying again next saturday morning and celebrating success at Baz's party (or drowning our sorrows if we cannot do it :)) Given that I can get it half way up on my own I think it will be the former.

If anyone has some kit that might help, let us know... a portable crane, lifting device... would be good, my engine crane nearly does it... but its too small

Anyhow let me know your thoughts guys..

The hoist has some long legs underneath for stability... thanks for idea

I think I just need a bunch of people and some pulleys / winches, that is if I cannot get any specific equipment...

what is the load rating of the overhead beams above where you are going to fit the hoist? Might have a couple of 1t chain blocks....... just a matter of finding them.

The shed is a ranbuild shed, they are relatively lightweight as they are made to hold colorbond sheeting. That said I have been told they are relatively solid for shed ( we paid for that :) )

I was thinking that we could use the pulleys on the uprights so they pull horizontally... there is not that much force required it hust has to be on the right angle. We would use two one to pull and the other to stabilizie...
And possibly a third to the top of the roof in addittion.

depending on how much room you have, a rope attached the the bull bar or toe bar of a 4X4 would do the trick I'm sure. I have such a vehicle, could this help?

I've got access to the chain block, a pulley set and my 4x4. Being only 250kg, 4 blokes could lift them world war flag sold style. :-D chain block is over kill. Dyna bolting in? I can get a good hammer drill too. Let me know what size bit required.

If you can get any of that stuff it would be great, the more options the better :)

    Thanks sticky

I have good hand drill and bit, it seemed to work on test bit... but if you can get one great, the bit is 16mm, i bought one as well.
Whilst I agree on the four blokes bit... it is pretty awkward as it stands up so the chain block etc might be needed...
