    Hi all

update is ive just bought a second hand series 1 ptu from a forum member. hopefully getting it tomorrow! will change that over to see if its a dead ptu. i checked the ecu and i got 2 long flashes and 1 fast flash (PTU i think) and also 3 long flashes and 4 fast flashes (Detonation Sensor Circuit i think). just need to double check in tech section.

with the wiring problem on the way to warick im 99.9% sure i had one wire exposed and was rubbing against the engine bay wall. i've replaced the wiring harness and made sure its all good before installing it in. there are a few clips broken but i have new clips so i have to wire them in soon.

i did what zxryan suggested and theres no spark at all. i tested drivers side front 2 spark plugs and both had no spark (i did 1 at a time). i smelt a bit of fuel so i guess its getting fuel.

is there anything else to check? how do i check the CAS? i check the plug and it looks clean and fine. the plug isnt broken. what else to check with it?

    Thanks guys
    John

Code 21 is ptu, code 34 is det sensor circuit. Put the 2nd hand ptu on and it will run.

Code 21 is "ignition circuit" and will also result from an incorrectly connected ECU.

    But most commonly PTU

Just thought I'd add it in case it still doesn't work.

And make sure your plenum grounds are connected clean and tight or you can kiss another ptu good bye.

Well technically it is "primary ignition circuit". Lets just keep it simple and refer to it as ptu.

Thanks guys. yes doubled checked the wiring harness is grounded on the plenum. there are two ground points on the back of the plenum correct? still waiting on the 2nd hand ptu to arrive so hopefully it comes in tomorrow! will update you all.

    Thanks again guys
