I have error code 11: Crankshaft Position Sensor Circuit ... ie Car NO GO ... just paid $66 to get a flatbed to get it home..

Car was fine (running real well actually) pulled up at work and car idled for about 15 seconds and STOPPED.... No restart... Sad

anyway ConZult on screen says as above... the instuction pdf says:
    Code 11* :
    Camshaft Angle Sensor circuit (CAS)
Either 1° or 120° signal is not entered for the first few seconds of engine cranking,
Either 1° or 120° signal is not input often enough while the engine speed is higher then the specified RPM.
Check harness and connector (if harness and connector are OK, replace CAS)

SO which are the plugs and LOOM I should check.....???? help please...

BTW it was drizzling this morning so moisture could be an issue.

As Wykked said, pull the CAS wiring plug off and clean the

terminals on both sides of the plug and the car will start 98% assured...

    Thanks for the info

    Now I have to
1: work out how to get my chubbie/fat hand in there without taking all the piping off...
2: how the hell does the plug come off? is it just a wiggle and pull thing??? or is there a clip???

Just been out there (in the rain) and torch light and given it a go... think best to leave it till tomorrow arvo when I get back from work.....Have to take the XR8 V8 to work ... at least it gets better fuel economy heheheee

    Thanks again for the info...

    Yes, remove inlet pipe >>>

Then splash cover, clip & CAS connector.

    I hate those bloody clips.......>>

I replaced my CAS plug with one of the new style ones, and the bloody wire on it that you press to get the plug off is hard up against the engine. It is still easier then the factory plug though.

Also worth ensuring you retension the female terminals

as the design of the cas wiring puts all the stress on the connection and in time the terminals can separate-especially the top ones...

    bloody clips.......>>

    Got the inlet pipe off...

Can barely get the dust cover to move enough to show me the plug .....looks like someone has had a go before
    [IMG]

That is as far as I can move the dust cover

What is the nack to get the plugs off???? It has one of those stupid spring clips around it???

    arrrggghhhhh

Cut the tape & splash cover will come off.

Cut the black adhesive tape on the dust cover and then slide ->

it off... then you can get to the metal spring clip ...use a fine screwdriver tip and lever off the top side, try to retract it around the plug so you can get the plug off... persevere!

In an emergency, you can re-attatch the plug with some

light adhesive (on the outside) once you have cleaned all terminals...

John from Cresta (3245 1555) will have a spare clip if yours is rooted.

    where I'm at...

I have used a small points file on the lugs and plug ... still ConZult shows Error 11 after I clear codes..

it is pretty hard to see how god a job I am doing ... so new question...

How hard is it to get the CAS out/off ??? easier t clean lugs in proper light..and even maybe see if I can borrow one to test....

Only info I have found in the manual page EM-13 shows that it has silicon/sealant on the meeting surfaces .. but it does not say if you can just rip it off and put it back on....

Also seeing if Rob or Mark get the record for all time fastest replies heheehehe :)

    Re: :eek::eek::eek::eek::eek::eek::eek: CAS Fell Off???????????????????????/

Yeah, my Z has been a major nightmare since I bought it. I will be telling the story hopefully next week and I will give a nice description of everything that has gone wrong. I'm near on $20,000 since buying it and it still isn't registered.
