i was driving along and pressed the clutch in to change 1st to 2nd.... and, the clutch pedal never sprung back... it has no pressure and the pedal stays to the floor unlless i pull it up with my hand. then the spring will hold it in place... push it down again and nothing...flat to the floor again!!! it wont disengage the clutch... this happend in the city after work so i waited till 2am... started the car in second gear and i was carefully flat shifting the whole way home, only cruched a gear once in 15 min drive... now its sitting at the front of my house annoying me, what could the problem be?? and how much am i looking at for repair... cheers Will
i suspect you have a broken pivot stud. Dont operate the clutch too much while its not doing working becasue it will pump the guts out of the slave cylinder since there is noting for it to act on. Cost wise, you will be looking at a gearbox remove and refit. 3-500 depending on where you go. and a new pivot stud, 20 bucks i think If you have accidentally pumped the guts out of the slave cyl then you will need one too. you should be able to feel underneath, drivers side, you will feel a big metal plate coming out the side of the box where the slave is, this is the clutch fork, will probably be flapping around there, and you should feel the slave cylinder, should have a pushrod and a rubber boot sticking out of it. if its just an empty cylinder you can stick your finger in then you've pumped the guts of it out onto the street somewhere lol
whats the changes there is air in the hyd line? had that happen on my old manual z, however the pedal didnt sit on the floor, still sprung back. just no clutch... im most likely wrong, but just maybe?
probably just a leak in you clutch hydraulic system. either dodgey cylinder or leak in the flex line. take it to a good mechanic to check out and quote.
ok, 1st time i got to have a look at my car in day time, everythnig around the pedal looks fine, checked clutch master fluid and its empty... ill fill it up press in the clutch and look for a leak.... is this my best chance of working out wats wrong???
NO. You need to check that the Clutch Slave Cylinder(on the bottom, Drivers side of the gearbox)is still intact(still has rubber boot and actuating rod in place), as previously advised by rollin. Then, and only then, will it be safe to top up the Master Cylinder Res.

Ummm yeah dude, it happens all the time. If its dropped all its fluid the pedal will stick to the floor. Not in all cases but we've had at least 5-6 do it this year alone. Pivots have been fine.
Quick question This happend to me only once like 6 months ago about a week after I replaced my clutch and line and 6 months later with out touching anything it has never happend again whats up with that ?
ok, clutch slave cylinder has been fixed and the pivot stud was broken now replaced, but we cant get the fork back on...does gearbox need to come out???
it was a broken pivot stud? you need to have the box off to replace it unless you know some trick i dont
