    Has heater core been bypassed?

Otherwise it's a climate sensor or motor.

    has your heatercore been bypassed??

how long have you had your heater for?? maybe the previous owner bypassed the heatercore due to a heatercore leak..... look at the firewall in the engine bay, just above your transmission, and see if you can see 2 rubber hoses connected to the firewall....

    Cheers

Has it just started not to work or have you bought the car

recently and you are trying the heater out for the first time. If it worked and then suddenly stopped it sounds like a control problem e.g. the tap is not working. Probably not a core problem or else you would have coolant inside your car - they usually start leaking before they are likely to block up. If on the other hand you have recently purchased the car and are trying the heater for the first time then possibly a heater core bypass has been performed. Suggest you look in the tech section to get an idea of where the hoses go and then check out what is done to your car. Good luck.

Had exactly the same problem in my car - actually still do. I found that the motor (located right underneath the heater box) that controls the valve that opens/closes to let water into the heater core wasnt working properly. i tested the motor with a 9volt batt to make sure it wasnt seazed up-worked fine. Connected it back up and tested it again-worked fine (really annoying coz i didnt know why) worked fine for about a couple of weeks now its dead again. I reckon its a problem with the sender unit but havnt had the time to check it out. I was going to tap into the wires leading to the motor that i can just pull out far enough under the heater box with a testing light to see if its getting any power-if it doesnt then i'l prob have to get a new sender.
You might like to try the same for yours..

i would try this before ripping out the heater box - bitch of a job!
here's a pic of the heater box what you would see from the driver's side minus a few things like the black sender box.(Jedi-77) I've rotated the pic coz the heater box is upsidedown-not to confuse you! The arrow points to the motor i'm talking about and the circle is what the motor looks like.
If you look under the heater box from the passenger footwell you should be able to see it (there are 2 under there buts its the closest one to the firewall)plus wires coming out of it.
    Hope this helps :)
