    Hi guys,

Do you know what I have to do to replace HID low beam to Stock low beam? Previous owner installed it....
Just went over the pits, and they didn't like it. lol.

Please if you have any idea how to do it, let me konw! Need to do it ASAP!!

    Thanks!

Remove the HID globes from the head lights. Remove the signal wires to the relay that come out of the old bulb plugs on the body harness. Get some new H3 globes and plug them in. Then you're done :) You should probably remove the balasts and wiring, depends if they are well hidden or not.

Then you will get home and put them back in coz the standard headlights with halogens is just awful :(

6000K (slightly blue) is supposedly legal. most new cars come out with 5000K (super white) im sure. changing the globes to 5000K set should do it.

can the same ballasts run the different colour globes?

yes ballast can run any of the HID colour temp globes.
And no, it is illegal to have HID's in a 300zx as our headlights do not have an auto leveler or someshit? 5000ish is the best either way, you actually get decent light output, the higher the kelvin the more blue and the weaker the light gets. I've never had any unwanted attention from 5000k globes

Without auto levellers the HIDs in a Zed will not strictly be legal, but if you keep them properly aimed you are unlikely to ever have a problem. That is, of course, unless you go silly with the colour (pink at one end or blue at the other). Over the pits is of course an exception.

I run 6000K HIDs on both high and low beams and the light is bright white (no trace of blue), and with the pexzed mod (high and low beams on together) they are magic on an open country road late at night. Love 'em to bits.

    Thanks guys!

I might do what Chrispy said. Coz yeh I heard how bad the stadard low beam can be. And I love HID with Silver 300zx :p

Yeh the inspector told me that if the car doesn't have auto leveller or head light washers, it's illegal....

lol I got told the same thing. Did you go to Welshpool?
I wanna see if I can get an auto-leveler and jet washer setup for a reasonable price for my HIDs before I put them back in...

    Yeh man, went to welshpool.
The guy was pretty good. Well not the part he picked on other stuff....
But he showed me what's wrong and what I should do about it. We had a nice long chat :)

Got told twin turbo = double the trouble. Hahaha!

I went there this morning!! LOL!

So did he change back the headlights for ya? How much did it cost?
Tom is from PZP yes? Sorry I'm a newbie. lol

 I went at 3:30pm when they were closing up
I opted for the full plenum pull which is fixed price, but I had other things that needed looking at such as HID->standard globes, stop the brake hose hitting the suspension (dodgy lol), and cleaning around the engine (inspector guy demanded it so he could see the engine number... in the end the guy couldn't really read it anyway cause it's so hidden LOL)...

So I'm not sure how much time it would take for just the HID->standard, but PZP labour is $90/hr. And H3C (standard halogen) headlight globes are another $36. :D and yes Tom is from PZP in Clarkson. Top work, I highly recommend! :)

Good luck with that :p Some of the american Zeds had a auto leveling thing in them, but it's a large system and horribly complicated. No washers either.

I don't believe that the 2K model HID's have the auto leveling either, Erik might be able to confirm.

You're better off just using the normal HID's and if you get defected change them back. I never had any trouble with mine.

    :(
I know that's what everyone does Chrispy. I don't want to get defected though, with work and uni I don't have time to run around revert stuff to standard on my car and go through pits again!

It's unlikely that you will get defected just for the HID's...

Hide the ballasts and have the headlights adjusted properly and you should be fine.

Hmm well I've never gotten pulled over before (touch wood)... what was the policy? Is it a minimum of something like 3 defects to get you yellowed?

i dont think the 2ks have auto levelling, never heard that they do have them, not sure to be honest

Well you have a set on your 'vert, go and have a look :p

    I don't think it's minimum of 3.
I'm pretty sure they can yellow you with one stuff.

I got done for too low and oil leak (which doesn't exist...).
Then when I went over the pits, there were lot more stuff I have to worry about...
