Called all the wreckers in SA with no luck. Also tried Cresta. Unfortunately no-one has one. The price from Nissan is also apparently quite exorbidant. Anyone know where I can source one of these relatively cheaply or know if they can be repaired somewhere (cracked pretty badly in 2 places, but still bolts up and holds the front bar etc)?
    cheers

    I've been here

they are really hard to find. I eventually found one with a wrecker but that was after a lot of calling. They are a reinforced fiberglass of some sort so they can be repaired, otherwise call up Nissan as I recall they weren't *that* expensive (under $300).

shit, i got quoted $695, and the guy said it would be a month

perhaps I should see how much Coz at conceptz would ship one over for.
    cheers anyway
oh and they're fibre re-inforced plastic. the guy i talked to said no chance it can be mended as the fibreglass will not bond with it and it will just crack away quickly.

    Just fix it yourself

Cut a few slots along the busted pieces with a router and shamfer along the edges of the slots.

Go and buy a tin of Fibreglass filler, Like body bog except with fibers in it. basically bog it up !!

You could get enthusiastic and buy a fibreglass boat repair kit for $30 and it has cloth and all in it.

This isnt a hard fix at all

Hold the bits stogether with Super glue before you start. That stuff soaks into the fibers and make them stiff again.

You can sand the filler no probs after its setup.

fiber reinforced plastic is just fiberglass which should be able to be

repaired. Though from memory my reinforcement bar looked more like ABS plastic which can be plastic welded.

Re: fiber reinforced plastic is just fiberglass which should be able to be

Yep FRP is just another name for pultruded glass.

The nissan one is polyester resin same as most boats.

    This is an easy fix.

mmk the place i went to are supposed to be wicked and

he said normal fibreglass would not bond to this plasticcy stuff. I'll get a fibreglass repair kit and do it myself - shouldn't be that hard at all

    It isnt plastic

FRP is a generic term used to mean Polyester and epoxy resin based Fibre glass products.

A boat repair kit will work fine. The Bar is polyester resin based.
