Mate of mine has bearing noise in 2,4 and reverse gears. We were thinking on pulling the thing apart and having a look, but a gearbox is likea pandoras box if you havent done it befor it could be a problem.thanx in advance

You have to bust a few bearings to open it u

p, like drill them out or break them or whatever it is, so you must know which parts to replace to put it back together :p
    Doesn't sound like fun...

    That sounds suspiciously like

the shifter rubber boot is lifting up in the gears which the shifter is 'back' for, and allowing noise to enter the cabin. Try checking this before launching into a gearbox removal.

As with most problems, a quick search finds answers to almost every zed topic:YDAs far as pulling apart the gearbox, as the old saying goes, if you have to ask how ... you probably shouldn't! ...;)

    I'd be very suspicious

I think you will find that if you arn't getting the noise in 1st and 3rd it s not bearings. In the 'old' Zed boxes fifth and reverse were related (noise in both or none). I would not be in a hurry to pull that box apart.
