Got my pulley today just wondering though... Required belt sizes; Fan Belt: 4PK 980 (I've got a 4PK 970) I'm not going to get away with this... am I? [image]http://www.mustangmods.com/data/116/DSC00067.JPG[/image]
Hi Scotty As long as the belts are about 10 up or 10 down from the receommended size, you should be ok. I confirmed this with Simon and a friend who fixed a snapped belt on my car. =) P.S:- I got mine toooo.....yummy BLUE!!!
It sounds like every one is getting theirs They do look good dont they!Scotty dont be too concerned with GFB recommendation as it is only this. I had multiple conversations with people in the know (thanks to those people) people that have fitted these pulleys & the general consensus was with the belts i supplied. The 10mm either side, as Dinesh said, was brought up several times aswell.I hope you all enjoy
Cool I'm going to have to do a bit of filing, painting too, I don't know how well the pic will turn out, but it looks lik the pulley has been dropped during transport I have a feeling the ding/chunk in the pulley may cut into the belt causing it to snap... Here's the pic. [image] http://www.mustangmods.com/data/116/Pulleyding.jpg[/image]
Bummer They must of used it as a footy, cos there was a sh*tload of bubblewrap on there to protect it.Dont go hacking into it though as it is anodised & you will never make it the same. Wait until you are ready to fit it & see if the belt is actually gunna rub up against it. If it does then lightly trim it & dab an etch primer on it or similar. I wouldnt go for the full respray as it probably wont stick & it looks small enough to not see it.P.S ask one of the guys that has a pulley if the belt actually does sit hard up against it before you play with it.
I would return it as now your engine will be out of balance and wear bearings quicker. I originally got the GFB pulley and it had a dint in it so I returned it and got a UR one instead with no dints. May not be a big issue with you but I have built my engine to rev to over 8000rpm and a dint like that can have some nasty consequences.
would be happy with 600HP at the Flywheel no sponsors - just lots of hard work and long hours over the last 2 years.
I agree......>>> I wouldn't accept a pulley that has been dropped or damaged in any way. If it is slightly out of balance the inertial force when it is spinning above 6000 rpm could do damage to engine components. You should contact the supplier.
Cheers all, Brad, nah it's a big dent Jamie, is it ok to send it back to you because it was purchased in your name? Cheers again.
I got an exact ding mark like that... but right at the front of my pulley. A very small one. It doesnt look like it will interfere with the belt, but I'm worried about the harmonics!! Scotty are you going to return yours?? Is there anyone who ordered the UD Pulley that have a mark like this on their pulleys??
Dinesh, yer man I am, just waiting on Jamie, seeing if i can sned it to him and he returns it for me. you thinking of doing the same?
I HAVE JUST CONTACTED THE SUPPLIER & there is nothing we can do until Monday when he can contact GFB. I will email those of you who are not happy as i think we do not have to publicise this any more.He knows that i sent the pulleys in the same packaging as they were sent to him so that will be on our side.Dont worry guys i will get the answers, but please understand there is no need to contact me or pressure me, as what i know is what ive posted & emailed you all during this group buy process & i have been doing this on a regular basis.Jamie.
