not such a bad tale really, fogs on can get you busted , have heard a few stories from mates with supras and other car done 4 it, moral of story ... if your in a high visable area dont fog, backstreets fine...

Are your fog lights still connected?

When my Zed was complianced, the fog light part of the lamp was converted to an indicator. The first click of the light switch you are refering to is the parker light which is there from factory and then the brighter fog light comes on when your light switch is at the second notch and the fog lamp button under the cruise control button is pressed.

By the sound of it he wanted to bust you for something so I guess the lights are better than your wheels.

    Fog/Driving lights

It has always been illegal in NSW, for Fog/Driving lights to be able to be connected in any way other than through the Hi-beam circuit. In other words, you must have the Headlights turned on Hi-beam before the Driving lights will operate. As it is illegal to use Hi-beam in a "built-up area" (area with street lights), then if follows that it is illegal to use Driving lights in that area. It is also illegal to use Foglights when there is no fog present. It is NOT illegal to have the Parking Lights on.
    Real Bummer, ehh?;):zlove:

Jspec fog lights can be used during the day to increase vehicle visability

as part of the "lights on" campaign, with or without the use of headlights but once it becomes dark the fog lights MUST be turned off unless there is fog on the road.

Even though they are white (not yellow) they are still classed as fog lights because they are operated "solely" by an independant switch.

We all know the law can be an ASS

Seems funny to me that you should be required to have your high beams on to activate your fog lights.

Fog lights are designed to let you see better in foggy conditions, whereas the high beams will only cause "whiteout" in foggy conditions.

Anyway, not a dig at the police, just think it is a strange one.

Re : We all know the law can be an ASS

This requirement relates to "driving lights" only and ensures that people can't use them independantly because driving lights are essentially "high" high beams so they are wired to turn off when you dip to low beam.

That is why fog lights are always operated via an independant switch. There is no realtionship between fog light and headlight switching.

Although the jspecs are legally classed as fogs, in reality they are not worth a pinch of manure. As you said, white lights cause "whiteout" in foggy conditions.

Greg, my reference to "Fog/Driving lights" was purely because so many members on this forum have great difficulty in arriving at the correct name for vehicle parts. The small rectangular, clear lights fitted in the front bar of some of our Zeds, is a case in point. I know they are Fog Lights, but many will tell you otherwise, hence my explanation of the requirements for Driving Lights, followed by the Law on the use of Fog Lights(in NSW).
I shouldn't have assumed that everyone knows not to use Hi-beam in a fog.:LOL::LOL:

It was reported all day Friday on Sydney radio stations, that there was going to be a "blitz" by Police, following a spate of stabbings, driveby shootings and murders over the past week.
No big surprise really, we can thank all the gangs for this crackdown.

Dont think this comment would have helped your situation.:D

There is absolutly no reason to have foggies on in built up areas except to draw attention to yourself.

Fair enough if you just forgot to switch them off.

hehehehe And yes we all know that 300zx drivers are prone to do stabbings, driveby shootings and Murders.

Hence they should have their cars stopped and defected.

LMAO, it really is a wonder how the criminal mind works!
