Theres gold in them there hills! Well maybee but the hills rocked too the combined entourage of z power. They came from all over to answer the fever south east, east, bendigo and geelong A short maccers break at bakery hill and a meet up with the geelong guys and we wer off to Mt Franklin an extinct volcano for a photo oppotunity then on to Maldon for lunch in the the town that does not age. Buildings from the 1800s from a time when gold was the cry from the fields. After eating the worlds best and most messy hamburger I checked out the town with some of the group. It was getting hot and most needed fuel to get home so a short stop and then too the poppet head in Bendigo for another photo shoot and ice cream. At this point the call of home james was made so I had to leave But I would like to thank all for a great day some good information and even some buy and sell. My vote goes to renzed for the best prepared and looking car on the day many came close but she gets the vote

Good write up mate, well said.
2nd'd had a ball. Got to see what a fire spotter's tower is all about too and the view from the top was incredible.

Yeah Renzed was looking pretty Shmik but then again so was Jedi as well hmmmm tough call.

Vote for 4 wheel drive Zed goes to Kingy who bravely checked out the road that none would travel... up to the top of Mt Franklin (further up than camp grounds) didn't take long to dislodge the dust and the purple beast was looking itself again after a couple of smooth overtaking maneuvers out on the open road... what is it with country folk (bless their souls) doing 80 on a perfectly good 100 road?? lol :zlove:

Nice to have met you Dave, good to have had a bit of a yack. Did you ever end up finishing that hamburger? I don't recall seeing any kind of victory dance.
To the others, thankyou again for a great time. Sorry if i was a little unresponsive, I had a late one the night before :p VERY late
My computer is merrily crunching the numbers so after i've processed Elie's shots from Saturday i'll have the cruise photos up to see. Possibly by Wednesday, watch this space.

    cheers
    Evan

edit: it was dave wasn't it? Sorry, i have slight sunstroke i think

    BigCol That's what she said...

Awesome day (not dial up friendly)

Hopefully I get the names & events right - forgive me if I don't and feel free to correct me. It was a fantastic day, and was nice not to be a cruise organiser so I could actually mingle and chat. Was fantastic and enjoyed catching up with old friends and meeting new ones! Big thanks to the organisers - BADZX, MickW, R31 Gagz & Renzed. A great cruise and I'm already looking forward to the next one!

Here's the writeup and pics. All straight from the camera as I'm too tired to fix em. But they turned out reasonably ok.

Anyway, the cruise started at Todd Road with 5 Zeds - BigCol (Colin), Jedi-77 (Mark), TQE-756 (Sean - sorry not sure of the spelling), Altered State (Dave), and Martini_Z (Martin) with ZedEx (Evan) as passenger. We cruised straight to Bakery Hill at Ballarat and waited for the Geelong crew to turn up.

After a bit of a delay the 3 zeds turned up - BADZX, O'Connor Television & Twin Terror and we headed off to Mount Franklin and a photo shoot and a bit of a chat. After a bit another zedder (Daryl? - sorry don't know your forum nick) joined us. We went into the main carpark area and settled there for a while. A few general shots...

BADZX volunteered to check out the road up to the lookout, but it was a mess so we decided to head on to Maldon for lunch and a drink as it was a bit hot. We were joined there by MickW, Stufarny, RenZed & R31 Gagz. Oh and a banjo playing busker, but that's another story!

Next was a trip up to Mount Tarrengower. We took over the car park and we we were able to climb up the tower to the level where the fire spotter was which was really interesting even though I wasn't so keen on the climb at the top! I didn't get any pics from the upper level of the tower, or the tower itself, but hopefully someone else can post them up.

    Pics from the lower levels...

Next we shuffled off to Bendigo. A quick stop at the local servo for some fuel & drinks, and then on to a car park next to the footy oval to chat and take a few pics.

Not too many pics were taken here as it was pretty hot. So Jedi, Martin & Evan, Sean, and myself travelled in formation back to Melbourne. Thanks for a great day!

The GOOD the BAD and the UGLY.

I've never been on any kind of cruise before so I had no idea what to expect. Here's what I found -

THE GOOD. Pretty much all of it but here's some of my personal favourites -

The Forum members I met are amazing. I expected at least a little bit of attitude & posing from such
a mixture of sports car owners but all I found was cameraderie, support, and a genuine enjoyment of
    each other's company.

The cars. At one point Kingy remarked that " there's no two of them the same, they're all unique somehow "
I'll add that they're all eye catching as well. No matter what colour, configuration or styling
options these cars have, they stand out.

Craig's twisty run at the finish. I was in the rear so I got to hear a symphony of exhaust
growls and tyre shrieks from the naughty boys in front of me.

I learnt a lot about my own car today simply by asking others to show me or explain to me
the how, what, where, when and why. The sticker on Kingy's radiator deflector plate sums me up -
    " Nosey little f**ker aint ya "

    THE BAD. None of it.

Well there's this, BAD by definition. Love that number plate...

THE UGLY. I was hoping to get a close up photo of Craig bending over, his butt would have been the
star of this category. Maybe next time ?

The old busker in Maldon singing depressing songs about blood on the ground, stolen trucks,
    unfaithful wives, lost dogs...

The other old busker with the banjo. [Banjo + amateur player = sounds ugly /ends]

    Potentially ugly -
There are a few members in central Vic who are putting their Zeds back together at the moment.
They would have benefitted greatly from attending the cruise. There are no Z32 specialists
in our region so we need to start networking with experienced members and become self sufficient.

The level of support I found today is utterly amazing. My Zed has issues, mainly because I did all the work
myself without any real clue how to go about it. ( sound familiar anyone ? )
Today we had a bunch of knowledgable guys come up to our area at no inconvenience to ourselves.

To have missed out on meeting and quizzing these people would have been an ugly ugly thing.

Thank you, thank you, thank you on behalf of all central Vic members to all you folk
who came up to our turf and shared. We owe you one.

    A very grateful Mick. X X X X :):):):)

We get a bit nervous at those speeds because we all learned to drive on tractors. :D
And don't assume that we have souls, we're all heathens up here.

It was great meeting you mate, see you again some time soon. :)

hmmm damn shame i missed this one.

martin looks like you're still making improvements to the cooling system after the last cruise. mesh nose panel and the radiator air guides looking very functional.

I agree. But it is not very often we in Vic find a place where we can look down on our cars so I thought it might be something a little different...

The funny thing is, Big Col is so tall that the Zeds look like this to him all the time.

( OK, I exaggerated a bit for comedy reasons.)

    Hi All,

I'd just like to say that yesterday was a really great day. Well organised by Kingy, Renee, Craig and Mick. Thank you. There was plenty to see along the way - especially if you were like me and a passenger along for the ride; although i did fall asleep for a little of the journey due to the late night the previous night. Yet, still had a great time.

Great places for some good photos and all round an enjoyable way to spend a Sunday.

Bryan and I will be happy to join in on any more cruises that get planned. (Here's hoping the white car will be on the next one :)!

Mark mentioned that his ambient temp gauge was reading 36 degrees. Took some pics on my phone but I dont think they do justice so might wait for Evan to upload his - Anyway, nice meeting and catching up with you all! Look forward to the next one :zlove:

    Cheers,

    Martin
