    Is it possible to get a locker kit or something for the viscous diff? I went in my friends skyline who has a locker diff and it was awesome!!! I found it much better than the Z's diff. Does anyone know prices or where you can get diffs like these for the Z? I'm pretty sure its not possible to mod the viscous diff as it has no gears?? Anyone know?Thanks

    this is what I've found so far >>

    I've been doing some looking around on diff mods and came up with this.R230V diff is used in only very few nissan cars
    * 1990+ 300ZX TT (3.69:1 diff ratio)
    * Infinity Q45 (3.5:1 diff ratio)
    The only thing made for these diffs are a Tomei, Kaaz, Cusco, ATS clutch type diff pumpkin.The R200V diff is used in the 1990+ 300ZX NA (4.08:1 diff ratio)
    The options for pumpkins in this diff are Kaaz, Quaife, Detroit Locker, Phantom Grip. The Phatom Grip is to be avoided as it uses metal to metal pressure plates and wears out too quickly. The Quaife diff is good as long as both wheels have contact with the ground but as soon as one loses contact all power goes to that wheel. The detroit locker is no longer made for this diff so you'll have to find new old stock. Other options are possibly using the crown and pinion gears from a H233B diff (only 3mm bigger crown wheel than the R230V crown wheel) from a Xterra or Frontier and put those gears in the R230V diff housing. They have a good range of diff gears, 4.11, 4.363, 4.636 etc. The only aftermaket option for this diff is a detroit locker but I recently found out that they no longer make the locker for this diff so you will have to find someone with new old stock to sell. Other options for the H233B is an air locker but that requires an air compressor to be installed somewhere in the car which is big and bulky.I'm trying to find someone that will do some custom gears for the R230V or R200 diff and then maybe use a Kazz pumpkin till I source a detroit locker.

    Paul, see if Stama's still got his

    or if you can get it from the car.... that was a very tight diff as I recall.Otherwise there are plenty of companies out there that make aftermarket diff's for Z in Japan, usually around $1500+ for a new one, but I've seen second hand for around $600 or so landed.Ben
