Hey guys, been a while since iv been on here!

Iam removing my manual gearbox in the z32, is it any easier to undo the engine mounts to lift it an inch or to with the box attached - to tilt it all slightly to get to the top bolts etc...

damn input shaft bearings had it.

    Cheers, ian

from memory, you dont need to undo the engine mount am pretty sure, but you need to take off the gearbox mount and the small gearbox crossmember. make sure the gearbox is on a jack when you take it this off. slowly release the jack and the gearbox should slowly come down enough to get a rattle gun in there to remove the top bolts.

Put a piece of wood on a jack ( after removing gearbox cross member ) under the front of the motor and jack it up inch or 2 ( just don't strain the radiator hoses to much ). You only need to angle the gear box down a little to be able to get a socket on a few extensions ( I also use a couple of socket uni joints ). Pulling a gear box while laying under a car is a bitch.
    Enjoy

I didn't touch the engine mounts when I replaced my clutch. A socket wrench with extensions and two uni joints will suffice. Just use your hands and feel for where the bolts are..

Been a while since I dropped a box but yeah this is what we did. The top bolts aren't hard to get to with a **** off long extension
