I have 90 manual n/a and recently realised smell coming from under the car. so we lifted it and i found oil leaking just at the end of gearbox. Seems it's coming somwhere from the top of speed sensor and unfortunatelly a cannot see where it comes from. I wonder if someone had the same problem or has any idea how to fix it? Wouldn't want to give the car to the mechanic shop 'coz it's my everyday mule.
Hopefully oil comming trough a gasket of the top plate sitting on 6 bolts but how to tighten them without taking the gearbox out of the car? I tried to get it from inside the car - unsucessfully.
If you drop the exh & the gearbox cross member then the gearbox will come down about four or five inches & give you some room up top - maybe enough to have a crack at removing the plate & fitting a new gasket etc. Only takes about an hour to drop the box failing that, out, fixed & back in under a day easy as even for a novice
