i need some help.sometimes on startup i get a strong smell of fuel,so it tightened all the clampsetc that i could seefrom the engine bay and had a sniff around.i have concluded that the smell is coming from right next to the oil filler cap at the front of the engine.looked around but could see no visable sign of leakage or where it would come from.today after having not driven the car for 2 days decided to install my new autometer temp gauge.as soon as i lifted ythe hood i could smella faint wiff of fuel and with my trusty nose have sourced it again to the oil cap region.
any ideas how you could get a fuel smell here, especially as i had about 1/4 tank and had the motor parked about 1 metre higher than the rear end in my drive.
any help would be appreciated thanks.
    regards brett

Probably a leaky injector or the fuel rail!

The fuel rail goes arround like a "U" shape from the back of the engine to the front. The two "separate" rails are joint with a rubber hose ( this is one possibility ).
Another is that one of the injectors is leaking. I think the ECU Diagnostic would pick this up, do a test and see if you could find anything. Injectors have 4 sets of seals on them any one of them could be the problem.
