Was filling up with fuel and was done and I noticed the valve inside
wouldn't open properlly, so I looked into it and saw it was kinda
hanging there.. so I tried to get it out and it slipped into my
    fuel tank.. :(

Man this sucks, has this ever happen to anyone? Any way to
access the fuel tank and pull it out? It's not dangerous if it's
just in there temporarilly? Really want to get it out. Any suggestions??

Hmmm you might be able to pull out the fuel filler neck and insert a long magnet on a stick to blindly fish it out.. Otherwise you'll have to open up the tank through the boot floor. Check out the fuel filler neck and fuel pump tech articles for reference..

I wouldn't leave it in there, may get stuck to the fuel pump sock and block flow.

    Goodluck!

Im thinking dont worry about it. Amanda's zed has had it missing for years now. I cant only imagine the tank has digested it.

Afaik, the pump will never see harm from it.

But roll me over and call me Dorothy if im wrong.

It wont make it into the tank. Ever tried to Syphon a zed? bloody impossible. There is something at the end of the neck that stops a hose going in. I havent looked but I expect there is a screen so its probably sitting on that.

if you dont know what it looks like, good chance its inside.

all it is, is a flat piece of steel that acts as a flapper. if where the nozzle goes into the hole, if there is a black hole. you have no flapper.

At the tank end of the neck, there is a very tight 90* accordian bend, no way your going to get a hose past that.

Martin's idea could work . use a magnet as he sugested if it worries you. Mine doesn't have the flap but it doesn't even look like it ever had one ?. got me thinking i might go fishing for it with a magnet tomorrow night and if i find it i will post back.

Mines still perfectly attached...i got all scared i actually ran out into the cold at night, armed with nothing but keys and a torch just to check, and hallelujah its there!

Why i was even scared i dont know now...it wont affect my performance...in hindsight i feel like an idiot...
