I have no front reo - Due to the FMIC - and having to go over the pits I need to sort this. having never seen one I am curious

1 what are the mounts to the chassis made from - I am hoping steel.
2 the centre section of the reo in all the pics looks like its a form of plastic is this correct or is it something else eg aluminium like the rear
3 do the driving light buckets screw on and off or are they permanently fixed.

easiest would be to have a look at one I know but I dont know of any here in Gero and am not going to perth any time soon unless I have to buy one and bring it up. if however its not going to work with my custom bar and FMIC I will be looking at alternatives.

factory reo is the only thing that will pass the pits

could possibly get it engineered with something else, but front crash impact tests are very difficult to simulate

i use Terry Southam as a consulting engineer on some various projects of mine.. can ask him, as his the sort of guy that can actually sign off on this
im not associated with him at all, just one of his customers..

    its all plastic
    buckets are formed in
    cant remember the mounts

front reo is designed to be very rigid, but fail after a given stress load

i recently rebuilt a written off 2010 BMW 135i, and its entire front rad support, reo bar and bumper support was a one piece high density plastic, held up pretty well to the accident.. it was cracked so we had to replace it,

    Anti 14.7 x 14.7 = 44.1

There are two different types of OEM reo, some are 3 piece with an aluminium (?) center.

Here's mine, trimmed for FMIC. The ends could have been maintained, I forget why I cut them off. it's more trimmed than it has to be as I needed to raise the FMIC as much as possible for ground clearance.

yep I realise the issues surrounding the front reo and legalities. I feel if I have to cut one to make it fit then its illegal anyway, so rather than cut one down to fit I will look at getting something off another car that is intact and look at fitting it, both options are illegal, the case is which is the lesser of 2 evils considering if I bypass the intercooler with a couple of pipes and fit a reo temporarily then remove it later its just as dodgy.

for me all options are not really satisfactory and I am in no way asking someone to suggest any non legit way to do this. Just looking at all options. the fact that the twerps here have no idea what they are looking at and as long as they see a reo in place its likely to pass. however they do consider the stock suspension too low so I have to lift the car and twin throttle bodies means the engine is modified. All I can do is make the car look tidy and correct.
