Inspired by THEZED's recent post (thanks mate!), decided to get my AVS alloys refurbished :D

Nice work Toby, what did they cost per wheel/set ? .

Thanks Steve, $1440 for both sets including removing / refitting the tyres & balancing. At $180 per wheel (regardless of how much or how little rash, etc they've got), you have to love your wheels since there's lots of brand new wheels to choose from for the same money. :zlove:

    Eight wheel drive ?

    Now that's a mod.....

    :)

  5. Well worth it if you have a set of rare or beloved rims. Came out exceptionally clean. Toby....Do you know anything regarding widening of alloy rims? Safety, legality etc? I have a set of lenso type m 18in rims, trouble is they are only 8in wide. I would prefer to take the rears out to 10in. Cheers, Dave

Unfortunately, the very nature of Alloy(cast or forged)rims, precludes them from being structurally sound when "interfered with" in the manner in which you suggest.:(
Safety(yours AND other peoples)MUST always be the first priority when contemplating such modifications.:zlove:

 wow $770 for a set, yep true you can pick up a brand new set for nearly that much, and the old 350z rims don't warrant that much.

  8. Yeah I did a bit more research on the potential costs to the structural integrity of said rims...clearly not worth it, especially when I am not in love with the wheels.

Are your centres modded or originals ? - (as I have AVS insignia with the allen keyed centres on mine)

Thanks Dave, sounds like you've already found your answer, if someone could widen the rims safely, it'd be expensive :(

...yeah, while $180/wheel is pretty reasonable considering the work involved, I only did it because they're 25th anniversary model wheels.

Hmmm, that's interesting JC. The set off my Aussie 25th Anniversary model weren't modded in any way, the white AVS insignia and writing was worn here and there so I'll just get the Z32 "Z" logo painted on the centers but certainly no allen key anywhere (on either set)

The limited info I have found recently says 25th Anniversary wheels were 17x9 with 255/40 R17,s rubber
The tyres fitted to Toby's rims are 235/45 R17 which I assume are on 17x8 rims
Are these factory (option) as well
Did the 17x9 go on manuals - 17x8 on auto's ?? or stagered front to rear
    Offsets anyone ??

They're all the same size champ, only two of my 8 have 255/40's fitted. I'll replace all with 255/40's once I've had my use out of the good tread tyres the wheels came with :br:

9" rears were only on the USDM SMZ'. We got all 4 the same here in Aus. From memory the rears were 18" too but could be wrong about that part.

RedZedMikey RZM should now be DZM

Aus 25th models only got 17x9's all round. Yokie AVS wheels were available through Yokohama dealers as just an alloy wheel in other sizes - so 17x8's might have been available. Don't assume the 235s are on 8 inch rims - I've seen people put them on 10 inch rims (don't like it though). The AVS being a quality wheel I would expect the size and offset info to be on the inside face of the wheels.
