hi all, i have just installed my new BOV'S and found a small amount oil in the passengers side vacuum line to the original recirc's. I'm doing an engine pull in Feb (tech/beer/bbq day)for 100k's service so my question is.... is it ok to block that line off for now and run both off the drivers side for now and sort out/find that problem when the motor is out thanks
yes i know that much but .....this was a little more then i was counting on that's all, it was dripping out of the line
It's your call! There is no shortage of members on this forum that share the opinion various components, including vacuum lines, can be disconnected & discarded. Feel free to join that section of the fraternity if you wish. The 100,000kM service doesn't require the engine to be removed, however it would certainly be easier to work on if it was out of the vehicle. Perhaps a bit ambitious to consider an engine removal, repair the source of small oil leaks etc, complete a 100K service & reinstall the engine on a tech day, hope you're well prepared!
I would suggest finding where the oil is coming from and fixing that rather than putting a bandaid fix in place.
that's what i plan on doing when i take motor out(1st FEB). my main concern is if there is more oil up the line will the bov be working at all on that side......that's why i asked if there would be any problems with running both off the one side for now. ill find were the line comes from and disconnect both ends and blow it through....
the car was designed with recircs not BOVs so why not just screw/shut them off for the time being... like you said only a couple of months and the engine will be out.
