Well we finally made it to the tablelands last night after two days of driving and entertaining a 5 y.o. lol

Anyway - we had our lights on most of the way because it was overcast, rainy etc and with all the traffic....
When we finally arrived, i waited a moment before turning the engine off, then went to turn the lights off - as you would- and the headlights went off but NOT the foggies:confused::confused:

I then put headlights back on, then off, then on, then high beam - damn blew a high beam bulb:eek: then tried all lights back off and they still wouldn't turn off.

I have had to disconnect the battery coz nothing else worked. I have checked all appropriate fuses etc and cannot see anything else that it may be, so i put a :help: out to anyone who can help me please as i 'm not sure what to do next....

Oh yeah Heavytrevy blew both highbeams coming up the last 15-20 min of driving up windy dark roads - lol - that did not help either.....

This isn't meant to be insulting, but you are trying to turn the foggies off with the Fog Light Switch(flat switch panel above the headlight switch) and not the H/light, Parking light combination switch, aren't you?

Failing that, you may have some water in the wiring harness(due to the bad weather) and it is shorting out some of the electrics.

:bow2:Uncle Lloyd! Thankyou for your info - it was indeed the switch! (sad to say i didn't even know it existed) lol dopey me, :bash: what can i say - turtle thru and thru ...lmao :p

I didnt know what it was for, thats why i didnt purposely touch it - didnt realise i must've accidently hit that switch instead of the cruise control - coz i was testing that out thru our long journey.

So you accidently turned the foggies on while using cruise, or you turned them on because it was raining, overcast, etc, then forgot how to turn them back off? :p

My foggies come on automatically when my lights are turned on. As far as i know i didnt purposely push that button. So there was nothing to forget as such coz i didnt realise it was pushed in the first place.

As for SIM300 and r33k- give me a break please - we drove 20hrs you'de be buggered too after that - the 2nd length was 12 hrs with like a 15min break to try and eat something and re-fuel before gettin back in and driving. (And remember - i was the one with lil turtle in the back).

When i'm driving all i needed to know was wipers and lights - all those other buttons around the place i'll get to know what they do when i'm not so bloody tired lol

Oh yeah - forgot to mention - a big hi to KEZ in the pink zed in mackay!! not sure if she knew who we were but we saw her when we had one of those quick fuel stops... Lil turtle wants her zed to be that colour. Very nice zed you have :)

Maybe we need a "Wood Duck of the Week" section.
This reminds me of my mate taking his video remote to be repaired because it wouldn't work..... The child lock was on lol.

    Cheers,

Never mind Lady Tortoise, you may not be the first one to make this mistake(but you are the first to have the Kahoona's to admit it).:zlove::zlove::zlove:

    Sorry, I wasn't having a go...

I wonder what else the Z has that you don't know about? At least you know the important things, accelerator, brake etc... ;):D

I'm hoping that i'll get some time over the two weeks to further explore the car and if theres anything else i find, i'll get the book and check it out....
My usual rule is - if i dont know what it is then i dont touch it lol :p (until i look it up)

I found that the foggies were coming on with the headlights, so i didnt realise that there was another switch that could turn them on or off individually from the headlights.

I am trying to teach myself everything bout the zed, where things are and what they do etc - for me its the only way i learn. At least i'm giving it a go and not being a typical girl turtle bout it. I guess i'm learning something new every week bout the zed and its great!

The first thing i will be doing when this rain goes away, is getting into the little green and yellow wire to disconnect that damn annoying chimer!

When we get back down home, i'll be doing the plenum - and yes, i'll be doing the work myself with the guidance from zed4life (when he's feeling better).

We've all had a good chuckle bout the foggies up here.... and thats been backed up by you guys baggin me too, so its all good - us turtles have tough shells and can take it just like the next guy, I've just never driven that far before... i think it took it out of both of us, heavytrevy is still recovering....

The park lights will come on with the headlights...

The fog (driving) lights have two globes. Parking light (which will come on with the headlights), and the driving light. The driving light is only turned on/off with the button under the cruise control.

I always drive at night with the driving lights on, can't see much without them.

I agree, the normal headlights arent that bright. It was the first time that i've really driven in the dark with the zed.
Also, i must've blown a hi-beam bulb too whilst we were trying to figure out the foggies,:(, coz i only have one working now whereas before we left i had both, no worries.... not sure if i'll go to Cairns to see if i can get another one or just wait til i get back home. :)

get some HIDs. There's no better time than if you have to spend money on globes anyway :)
