Hi all, I'm wanting to fit an FM frequency converter to a Jspec OEM radio

Pardon my ignorance... but on the original factory antenna lead, are there two antenna signals + neg which brings the radio to life?

If so, will I actually need two of these?:-

    plus one each of these?:-

There are 2 antennas - one in the rear window and one the one on the right rear corner.

Seriously, bin it and get a proper modern radio that can handle mp3's from a USB stick.

A frequency converter may only be $20, but you are never going to get reception as good as from an OZ spec radio. It gets especially bad when you are close to the transmitter.

Yep, I had a pretty fancy japanese head unit in my zed when I got it and put in a converter. Radio reception was pretty shocking. If you want the OEM look get one out of a Aus-spec zed.

Frequency numbers wont line up either
89 on the jap radio thru the converter will = 94 in australia and so on
Dont quote me on the exact conversion but thats what you have to deal with
Thats how it was with our car

Ok, well as it turns out, I do also have an Aussie radio from a 300zx but the front looks a bit worn compared to the Jspec one I've got. So I'm thinking, might just swap over the facia & fit the Aussie one. But the plugs on the back are pretty different... might see if anyone happens to have Aussie plugs laying about.

converters used to come as +10 or +12. +10 was easier to read but +12 gave a better range of station s available. As mentioned you need to do the math in your head so +10 may be easier at a glance 89 becomes 99 etc.
I would suggest however that a Aus assembled stereo it would make it all a lot easier.
