hey was taking off from a set of lights and all i heard was a masive bang i pushed the clutch in and pulled it out again and all it did was crunch first i put it back to neutrall and then back to first and clutch out (crunch) im geussing i chewed the teeth off first just wondering if this is a common accurence on zed boxes, is 600 for a second hand box cheap ??? also before this happened whilst in first and accellerating the gear stick would shake :| just incase any other zeds are doing this just letting you know your gear is about to shred
nope... definitely not common.... People have been pushing big HP through them with no problems. They ain't no GETRAG, but they are strong. Having said that, ironically, mine let go too due to a BOLT, yes a bolt, coming lose inside and f'ing shit up. I had it re-raced with brand new everything, and the guy who built it reckons the z32 box is bullet proof. I payed over 1000 for the rebuild, so $600 for a second hand box seems fair... just make sure you get it looked at by a pro.
May not be the box. I had a new UAS clutch plate explode and it showed similar net result as you describe. Either way, box is coming out. May be worth checking the shifter linkage before you bull the box tho.
nope no problems with reverse or any other gear :| i was hoping in the back of my head my syncro some how just stuffed itself on first but that just dosnt sound right to me :|
did that all the way home it really dosnt like that well my gear box took it well but i dont know how long my clutch will take it for. was soo shitty last night was tempted to park it out front of my house but already having one car written off like that and karma kicking my in the ass literaly for trying to do it again i decided against it either way one weak point of my 300zx has been eliminated next to go will be my motor hahaha wish i was joking
