Thanks for that mate... s$%t does happen quite a lot, especially to me... Lol!

Looked into cancelling the rego, there will be a cost and some admin fees, but I will get an unused portion of the rego back, so thats something I guess.

Didn't know you'd know my car... been it had to have been seen somewhere around in Sydney.

If I don't keep this car, I will get one from a forum member next time, less likely it will be abused and mis-treated.

I will consider what to do with it. I'd like to keep it, but the Mrs would prefer it gone, will just this one anyway, as it seems like a very deep money pit, so I will advertise it for sale as a project car for a while, and if there is no interest, I will keep it and fix it then... at least I could tell the wife I tried... Lol!

    Thanks again mate

Yea no worries at all I've seen him racing a few people in it. But if it dies sell you can get your self a clean TT of the forums, that's my plan or just convert my NA.

But good luck to ya mate, hope it all turns out.

    Vader Just another guy

Dunno if it helps, but I have two NA engines here that both need work, but together will make 1 working engine.

Engine 1: Bottom end is stuffed (B/E bearing?)
Engine 2: Runs on 5 cylinders. We think it is a bent valve after timing belt slipped.

My current plan is to build a working engine from these two and then sell it. If this can help you, then send me a PM. If you're not interested, that's fine and I will go back to plan A.

I'm in WA - that's your major hurdle.

    Good luck.

I'm getting an engine block getting shipped from WA to me from Zeb. He suggested that it may be better off if he sends it to UAS (as he has an account with them) and I pick it up from there. UAS is only 15 minutes from me and probably 20 from BlackZX.

I'm in no rush to get the block and Zeb is quite busy lately so it may not happen for a week to a month, possibly more so you have time to sort out details if it comes to that.

So yea, possible solution, Vader sends engines to Zeb, Zeb gets them sent along with my block to UAS, we pick up our stuff from there.

    Ok guys,

Spoke to the wife and she wants the car gone...

Circumstances are happening at home that prevent me from keeping this car and fixing it up, so it has to go.

I can either sell the car off as a project for someone to drop a new engine into, or I can part it out.

Since I'm not a mechanic and don't even have any tools to take things apart, I'd prefer to sell the car as a whole, body intact, just with a blown engine, so someone could either fix it, or get a new engine for it, and if they are in Sydney NSW, there is one on Gumtree for $850, running and everything. I'd get it, but the wife doesn't want me to spend another cent on the car. :(

I'm not in such a hurry to get rid of it, but if it doesn't go in a reasonable amount of time, I guess I'll have to part it out and cut my losses.

This is a sad sad day for me, but I know I'll get another Zed one day... maybe a TT

If it was me, I'd keep the Zed and get rid of the wife(I will emphatically deny ever having made such a comment, so don't bother trying to blame me).:p:p:rofl::rofl::br:

    Haha... funny guys...

But since the wife is pregnant, I think she wins this fight... with a baby on the way, a Zed wouldn't be too practical.

However, I could get a Zed for my 30th in about 3 years when things settle down a little here... we'll see...

Its a good car, a damn good car, but just not for me right now... family comes first :)

so are you starting a for sale thread with pics soon.

oh and good luck with the coming baby.maybe once the hormones and panic settle down she might let you keep the car or tell her you will do more overtime.
and since its Valentines day how about some flowers and a box of chocolates before you suggest that to her.

Yeah will set up a for sale thread... car will be going for very cheap as its she does want it gone... but all it needs is an engine... everything else is there

Thanks, I know I'll need all the luck I can get with the raging hormones I have to deal with... Lol! Too bad I work on a salary, so overtime does not equal extra pay... but its ok, she said I can get a Zed again later on... something better, so I'll be looking on the forum when I get the green light... maybe look for a nice TT then... :)

She already has the chocolate, so will get flowers after work... I know the drill... :)

I've had something similar, overheated like a biatch and blew the top radiator hose, but it was only a busted thermostat. Easy job and fix.

Essentially, it's just bad luck. I would of taken a busted Z if I wasn't moving...

Even if it was an easy fix, I don't think the wife would be happy with me keeping it... think I'll be looking for a family type car after this... makes more sense...

Oh Dear - hope its ok

Oh Dear - hope its ok

the metalic noise on accelerating could also be the centre bearing (would be due for a change about now)
as suggested by sanouske- stick to the plan - check the fluids for cross contamination first- then we can proceed from there

sidenote - since your new to the Z - dont forget that coolant goes in on the ramps at 30 degree (by the manual) or it wont fill fully as the motor is higher than the radiator - if you dont use ramps it can take several days for the pump to push the air bubbles down out of the head into the forward section

hope you get some luck here - lots of help available here at the forum - so dont despair - when its running - it all becomes worth it and all the trouble lingers to a feint distant memory

    Linda -
just paying my dues for all the help ive gotten so far

Personally, I would keep it to the side, and wait for a dirt cheap N/A or if you're game TT engine to pop up, and do the conversion. Just take your time with it, accumulate necessary parts over the next however many months and bring it back to life. It won't hurt the wallet if you do it over a few months with decent saving and keeping your eye out for parts. Basically selling a headgasket car will be a huge struggle and you'll loose a lot, it almost makes more sense to keep it and sell after you've fixed it.

Take mi myms car, for eg. Blew the engine head due to lack of maintainability (Toyota Land Cruiser).
Trade-in value was 13k with engine blown. She spent the 5k on getting engine reco'd and running car, and trade-in bumped up to about 28k.

But it's really up to you, you may need quick cash and a car asap, in which case do what you need to.

    Thanks for the advice...

Yeah I didn't pay too much for this car... so wouldn't be losing too much, maybe 1-2k... which is ok I guess, and I'm not very technical and no room in my garage to do engine stuff, so I was kind of hoping to get a working car.

Plus, with the baby on the way, need all the cash I can get I guess...
