well.. i finally went and did it pics speak for themselves: before: after: I made sure the holes were welded up underneath.. there doesnt seem to be any distortion or marks on it so yeah pretty happy overall :zlove: :zlove: Next upgrades are 18" wheels and 2000 rear lights.. assuming that GB ever finishes
I never liked the Brasilian on a zed but the more I see the more it is growing on me. Looks good, some 18's will top it off.
Looks good. I'm still undecided as to whether I'll go for this on my car too. I'm not sure why but the factory spoiler is growing on me. Probably because they're becoming more rare as everyone is doing brazilians now.
I'm not a real fan of the Brazilian, Aidan(I think the 2 seater is too short for it), but it looks like they did a good job on it. P.S. Your CHILI Brace is in the mail(posted Friday afternoon). Cheers mate.:zlove::zlove:
Any chili braces left? Also, can you post up a bit of a DIY with any tips you have for the removal of the stock spoiler bion1c? Any thing you would have done differently with knowledge of how it's now done? Cause I'll be doing mine soon too.
it was pretty bizarre seeing the car with no spoiler, but it looks more and more normal each time i see it. i think the early model spoiler looks quite a bit better than the later model one, but i dont like the old 3rd brake light (big n chunky). that late model spoiler just shat me to tears. It looks ok in that "before" shot, but thats probably about the best angle. from most other sides it looks crap imho brazillian + stock wheels is not a good combo, the car looks like it is missing something.. still trying to find the right wheels.. cheers for the update chilli was starting to wonder
i didn't take any pictures as we were doing it, but i can talk you through it. i took it off before it went in to the panel shop because i wanted to inspect their welds before it was all put back together. so you could quite easily get them to do this disassembly for you i'm assuming you have the late model spoiler here ("before" shot): first, you need to remove the interior trim underneath the hatch. There are 3 plastic pieces. you need to take the side plastic pieces out first. To do this, you will need to unbolt the gas lift on the side. Then there are 2 screws holding the piece on (1 under third brake light, 1 near gas lift). Once these are out, the trim is held in place by clips. You need to pull it straight out. once the two sides are off (and gas lifts reattached), you need to take out the centre plastic trim. This is held on by a single screw and some clips. Take the screw out, then pull it "down" (towards the front of the car). It should slide out. Now at the top of the hatch near the hinge there's a rubber strip, might as well take this off too. So now the inside of the hatch is bare metal. There are 4 bolts holding the spoiler to the hatch (1995+ version). There is a hole for access underneath the bolts, so use a socket to take them off. Once the 4 bolts are off, there is a clip on the top of the spoiler holding it on. You need to pull it straight up on each side to release it. at that point the spoiler is off and you are ready to take it in to the butcher..err panel beater.. anyway thats just a quick run down, sorry i didn't take any pics while we were doing it, it wasn't a very difficult job. if you have any specific q's shoot me a PM btw, make sure when you talk to the butcher you tell him to take the glass out and respray the whole hatch properly!!! you dont want them to do a dodgy job with bog and just a touch up in that small area..
I think it looks great, nice pic Aidan. I am so glad you chose to do a Brazillian hehe! Now let me just picture that spoiler on an Aztec red 2 seater hmmm! Perfect! Fran :zlove:
Looks awesome man!! I took my wing off 2 saturdays ago. I am so much more happy with it. Ive also got the black solider! Just makes the car look so much more fatter!!! RESPECT!!!
Smooth as a babys ass! Looks good man...your ride was already half brazillian with the spoiler anyway! thumbs up!
lol park benches.. yeah there are some big wings out there.. good to keep a bit of variety though, dont want everyone looking the same it was a no-brainer for me though since the 3rd brake light was already installed damn i swear i am getting a lot more heads turning as i'm driving it around! can't wait for the tail lights!!
