Behind the scenes mods I don't mind... It's not something people will notice at all... It's a mod that makes living with the zee more enjoyable... They are white LEDs, didn't go any crazy colours, so looks stock but just more vibrant
Lol I didn't actually "modify" or cut things up... It's all reversible, but it is much better (brightness wise) I recommend you do it too
Lol yes your correct! Well... It is a lot of gain, but for what the job is it should be that much work.... But the guages and such arnt designed for LEDs that have directional light...ill do yours if you want,,, at a cost. Ill send picks of mine if you want?
More crap: Pulled a few fistfulls of leaves out of the radiator, as you do. Took the front numberplate off because it's dented and generally shit. Found that the number plate bracket has been virtually fused to the bumper through (probably) at least one really small collision. The part in the grill where it screws in is bent so that you can never (ever) undo the screws. Looks like it's staying for good =[ Finally got the head units out (was stuck on a single screw ) Spent a solid hour or so getting the aerial out as it was only going halfway up. Not sure if this means it's broken or just needs to be fiddled with. I'll take it apart and see I've read that the drainage pipe at the bottom of the mechanism needs to feed somewhere. I couldn't find any sort of drainage hole in the body anywhere where it goes...don't suppose anyone happens to know what this is about? Seems like my Z is in more and more pieces every day
You need to make a build thread... Your best to just buy a new or working arial as on the inside of the arial it's self is what looks like a rip cord (like those spinning top toys) it's cheap white nylon plastic and brakes
I could make a build thread...But I don't plan on doing a "major build". Just fixing what needs fixing Yeah you're probably right. I still think I'll take apart the one I've got, might get lucky.
aerial drain point is in the inner guard. If you reach down inside where the assembly was, you will be able to feel a 16-20mm hose. The flared to grommet on the end of the drain hose fits quite easily to this once the assembly is re-installed. Once youve removed the aerial assembly, there will be a small hole with a nipple on it, which your rubber aerial drain hose runs to. Make sure you clean out this point as well. If aerial is only going half way up, chances are the plastic runner that the mast is attached to has snapped. Can get new mast and cord assemblies, but its much cheaper to source a complete unit from Japan. Another tip is to make sure your remove or re-install the unit with the mast fully down and ignition turned to off. Up and down durations is via a timer. -Michael
I had a really good feel around in the guard. Found a lot of dirt, and some little plastic stubs, but nothing like a hose or a hole. Not too stressed about it, the aerial mechanism mounts in pretty securely, I figure once it's in, there will only be one place for the drain hose to go. I'm currently planning to get an aerial from someone's wreck. I'd rather get it all together in the next week or two, rather than paying through the nose and waiting for one to come from Japan. I don't think I could physically get it in or out of there with the mast up Thanks for the advice
if, by chance, the mast rope snaps, and you cant force the mast down... the aeriel can be removed still. Its a life altering experience..... Drain point should be visible if you look from underneath the car. From inside, reach down and towards the inner wall of the inner guard..... its there somewhere
So here is the pics i promised of my dash, i've still got some tweaking before i'm completely happy...I need to run extra leds for the needles so the are similar to my fuel guage needle... i have a hot spot too, on the top of the speed guage which i can easily tweak but gotta be bothered to remove it all again Also the reason i did this was to match in my head unit, so things look like it was factory.....in a way.... I'll let the pics speak now....
...Me or him? Looks pretty nice I suppose. I like the idea of matching the head unit. Very bright I suppose you've sacrificed the functionality of your dash light dimmer switch?
Haha Abe, this is just improvements Before I did the LEDs, the dimmer was cranked all the way up! Now I have it all the way down lol.... The issue is tho. Is when I turn it all the way down the temp display turns off. In the pics it's off only because I haven't got the acc. On .. The phone makes it look brighter but it's not too bad at all... I popped a few buttons off and scrunched some cling wrap on there as a diffuser, works a treat
