This isn't so much a cruise write-up, more an advice to all SEQlders about a stunningly superb pub we stumbled upon, at the foot of Mt Tamborine. Short notice by Sean saw just the 2 of us head up to MTBrewery, for the drive, and lunch. Being the magnificent winter's day it was, the rest of Qld decided to visit too, roads were slow and heavily congested around the Showgrounds as people made their way into the Markets. Wandering around, we sampled the usual freebies from Indian, Taste of Tuscany (olives) and home-made chutneys.... all superb! MTBrewery was chokka, as usual, but service was quick and we enjoyed a tasty lunch whilst pondering the merit of Brissie Beauty's proposed change of nick to: BB, Big Bazookas, or Bosom Buddy. Having spotted what looked like a new venue on the way up the mountain we decided to investigate on the way down .... what a pleasant surprise! Tucked away (just off a hairpin bend), is the Fox and Hounds Pub. A fair dinkum reproduction English Public House. R33k would love it! The pub was absolutely packed with diners (and drinkers), the menu full of yummy treats like Roast Beef $20; Mussels in garlic & wine $14, Beef and Guinness pie $22. Google just found this article which explains the history.
Wow, what a great looking pub! I love the old style cosy pubs. I'll have to try to make one of these awesome cruiZes one day so i can check these places out for myself. Just not a fan of the 3hr drive home after it's all done. Maybe next time. :zlove: btw, "Big Bazookas" FTW!
Woah! I went on a tamborine pub cruise last night with a 'friend' of mine I'll be there soon to check that out! Awesome!!!!!!!
as Rob said.. Was a very slow day in regards to traffic, but the weather was bloody marvellous. Perfect Gold Coast weather I'd say. Temp of between 18-22 degree's. Very few clouds in the sky. Lots of blue sky. My Z has proven to stand up nicely and puts the power down when necessary. Albeit needing a little more for my liking . The English Pub has such a great feel about it as well. Very good atmosphere and was packed. Prices were a little hefty, but the meals from what we could see were suffice. Definitely R33ks sort of place I'd say. The only thing it was missin was the bunch of Futbol fans at both ends gettin rowdy. Should make for a great event in future. The drive home allowed a bit more accelloration and a little sideways action through the roundabouts as well. Ahhh the fun I will have. Fate
That's an excellent find guys. Makes me all homesick. I think we might have to get a photoshoot at that pub soon. What a great backdrop:zlove:.
