Well done mate, nothing like a bit of righteous indignation, added to

a lot of courage, to show you won't be jerked about.

I must comment on your observation about pleading guilty and getting a fine reduction, because I had the opposite experience the only time I went to court (in NSW). It was a long time ago though.

It was an argument over whether the light was red or yellow, and seeing it was my first offence, I decided to fight it to keep my licence pristine.

I, too was bullied by the prosecutor (and the two police who booked me) in the ante room but I was only 17 and too inexperienced and too intimidated to resist. So I did plead guilty.

That pi##ed the magistrate off. He lectured me that if I was guilty I should have paid the fine rather than wasting the court's time. He then doubled the fine and added court costs.

Nice guy - he's still waiting for a Christmas card from me.

    Cheers:zlove:

    fates court case

Extremely well done Sean. The Court Case itself is usually quite civilised if the Magistrate is not too pro-police (which they can be, because the cops take them home after they crash their cars when they are drunk). It is the bullying the cops give when leading up the the case. Full marks for standing up to them, it would have done them good. There is still a lot of cleaning up to do in the QLD force from Commissioner Terry Lewis days. By the way is he still in the lock up? Hope so, should have thrown away the key ;);););)

    Good to hear Sean!

Finally, a "good news" post. You still got "done" for a speeding offense, you had your day in Court, but most of all you feel that you were treated fairly in the end. A huge sign of increased maturity, that can't be a bad thing.
    Well done mate!!:thumbsup::thumbsup::thumbsup:

Thanks Guys !!! Baz - Only explanation I have is this:

During the cross examination of the officer i asked why it was that if he saw me doing 122km per hour towards him that he ignored my breach of speed and didn't pull me over at that time.

His answer was along the lines of "You slowed down to pass me so i let it go"

It is quite possible that i was speeding upon approach. However i put it to the court that the 1st speed trap being a 4wd with camera should have picked me up if that was the case. The proseuctor and the officer both explained that the camera does not always work. Which means that in more than enough cases the camera is malfunctioning.

I wasn't in a position to argue the 122km allegation. However everything i do from now will be preparing to cover my ass. For false accusation.

A lot of "evidence" that was put to the judge by both the officer and the prosecutor was fiction and yet because it was 2 against 1 it was enough for the judge to take into consideration.

I can't stress how exciting it really was. It really is a different experience. If anyone ever gets the chance to sit in on a traffic offence case that you know what really happened you should!

Fate... WON THE CASE AND LOST MY JOB THE NEXT DAY!!!
