Just got back from the drags only got 3 runs due to a big turn-out of cars as it was the final Fast Friday for the season,
    My times
    1st run 60ft 2.058, 12.436et 117.95mph.
    2nd run 60ft 1.967, 12.755et 114.50mph.
    3rd run 60ft 1.84, 12.113et 112.92mph.
1st & 2nd runs were qualifying the 3rd was my 1st elimination my dial in was 12.40et, the other car was 16.28et, so by the time I got my green light he was well gone out by the 330ft mark, thinking I had no chance of catching him [ nothing to loose ] I launched at 5000rpm, the M/T radial's hooked up with little to no spin with a good launch I changed to 2nd at 6500rpm & to 3rd at 6500rpm by the time I reached 6500rpm in 3rd I had caught up and was beside the other car, changed into 4th as I was passing him still about 60 meters short of the finish line so I lifted off the throttle thinking I had passed him so I will back off to save breaking out, so it was a shock when I got my time card showing a LOOSE I had run a 12.113et and droke out Eliminating myself, I then began to think s???t what my time may have been if I had'nt of backed off, Beside loosing the race I may have just cost myself my first 11's run, well thats Drag Racing for you and whats keeps bringing you back.

so close to a 11 second timeslip mate, keep going!

when does a cage become mandatory, is it the 10 or 11 second bracket?

11 seconds is easily doable on a budget.

    step 1: Sell the Z
    step 2: Buy an FC RX7 :D

  4. mr zed x

    mr zed x chassis scrubbin..

step 3: buy $39875285729357 worth of apex seals, you'll need em.

if you beleive every urbun myth you read...sure.

on that token....spend $15K replacing the head gaskets on the Z32 because they over heat ALL the time ...see how Urbun myths work? ;)

Good Work. With more practice you should be able to get down to 1.6 60ft times with those tyres which would get you well into the 11 sec bracket.

When you hit the 10 second Barrier you need a cage and at 9's you need a chute and lots of other little things.

    Exciting stuff.

Just reading your description there sounds pretty damned exciting!
I don't know anything at all when it comes to drag racing (apart from the early days of hooning off at the lights) so my Q? is why would you back off before the finish line, isn't there enough run off to slow down after passing the line and what is "breaking out"??

It's what they call a dial your own handicap bracket, So you use your Qualifying runs as an inducation of how fast your car will go over the 1/4 mile and your reaction times, you can then nominate your quickest time for the Elimination round, If you run quicker then your nominated time [Dial in] you Eliminate yourself, which is called a break out, Thats why I backed off.
This type of racing is very even to all classes, it dos'nt mean the fastest or most powerful car wins, it comes down to consistent reaction times off the lights and ET'S.
You can get all the Info off the Kwinana MotorPlex web site, it has an issue on How to go Drag Racing, hope this helps.
